I would think if you are going through all the work and expense of a swap, a v8 would be the path to follow.

Agreed. That and there would be a LOT of work trying to match the Nissan and MB electronics together.

Jarhead....not sure why you would want to do that, but way more work than you could afford. Both Chrysler and Mercedes Benz technology to overcome with Japanese engineering... You can put a MB V-8 in a lot cheaper and own a beast of a car. Besides, I really think there should be a law against that thought...

well I need more horse power and increased torque but without buying a whole new car.. It would be smarter to go with MB engine but what are the prices? Could you find a MB-v8 with good power for a decent price?

Depends, can you do your own work? How much is too much for you?

Then no. Parts and a motor will run you $2K for a high mileage 5.0, $3K plus for a decent mileaged 5.0 and parts. Then I charge $1500 for ECU work.

You might be able to get the parts and motor for a 4.3 V8 for $1500, but the ECU work is still $1500.

The price can vary a little but you still have to remember that you have new fluids to buy, zip ties, electrical tape, wire, a multimeter (if you don't have one)... Little things. Bigger things if you get the wrong designated motor, Upper pan, exhaust manifolds. Oh and speaking of which, the exhaust manifolds require fab to get in whether you use the C43's or make a set. The cheapest swap you could do other than the original motor, is the 4.3 NA V8... By far. You might be able to get by for $1500, motor and parts, but you would have some serious shopping to do, it would probably be a higher mileage motor and they're only a little more power than the V6 you have now.

Do some research on V8's. You could also read the beginning of my thread. The link is in my signature.

You betcha, but that sucker is expensive. That'll be my next swap when I have the cash saved up, not only for the motor, but that sucker is enough power to destroy a lot of drivetrain so everything has to be beefed up.

And not to be nit-picky it's really a 5.4
