Great, and funny thread... I just love this site! Every time a ricer tries to race, I tell them... sorry, my wheels cost more than your car. They get pissed, and then I just blow them by. My wife tells me to grow up... she is a therapist. I tell her "you can't make me".

I haven't been so lucky, but then again, I do live in the Motor City and most us know what the Crossfire is all about.

Yes, they do and in addition they really ride my bumper. Not necessarily bad but with such a short backside they look like they're in my trunk!!!

I've had the same experience... sometimes i think they've penetrated into my car since I can only see the hood of their car from the rear-view mirror...

Yeah, Hemi trucks, what a joke. 340 hp and 6,000 lbs. = slow.

Wow, i was putting some exterior stuff on my wrx today. So it was in the garage and i had to take my dads car, even a 20 minute drive some dude in a G35 tried to race me.

Have a bright **** blue wrx, see how many hondas try to race you, at least with the Xfire nice cars try.. haha

Which reminds me, i have to take pics of my dads car, he's got new wheels, illuminated door sills, chrome surrounding door handles and a rear diffuser.

The other day I was going from one highway to another, and had a Mustang GT on my butt. The entrance ramp from one highway to the other is two lanes and is almost a perfect circle and is about a 1/2 mile. He pulled out to pass, this was about 60 mph and I punched it, at 80 he was behind me and could not keep up in the turn, we hit close to 100 then I backed off as we hit the end of the ramp. The then passed me at about 120 mph? But I was getting off at the next exit. Mustangs might be fast but they are no match for a Crossfire when is comes to anything but short straight runs.

I do get people wanting to race me all the time, I usually ignore them. I had a guy in a eagle talon the other day try to race me he missed second gear I thought the pistons were going to come through the hood.

I don't remember seeing any non-GM cars in that dream car garage photo that you posted a while back. And I don't think anybody here would criticize you for wanting another Camaro. I know I sure wouldn't.
Actually we were mostly a GM kind of family, my dad retired from there and we always got the family discount. But for some reason, we have 3 chryslers in the attached garage now. A XF, 300C and Magnum srt. Until GM maybe comes out with the Camaro, I don't like anything I see there these days!

Well, I have this to say: I'm from the Southern hemisphere - and despite that the weather sux at this time of the year, everyone and his/her mother wants to try and get to see my crossfire in his/her rearview mirror. It's RIDICULOUS!! The other day a GOLF 1 (and they do still make it in this country) "tried" to get ahead".

There's something else I'd like to add. Guys are actually better to race against - they race at the traffic lights and then acknowledge defeat when I clobber them. Girls are just mean and more aggressive on the road than guys. By the way I'm a girl - just in case you think I'm being sexist!!!

I wanna hear some more funny stories about the kids and their rice-burners... I have only had my XF for less than a week, so I don't have much to tell, but I think its funny to hear about how they think painting stripes on their car, welding coffee cans to their exhaust, adding flashy neon lights, or putting a big gaudy sail (spoiler) on the back of their car makes them go faster. Granted, a FEW of them really are fast, but most of them are kiddies trying to be like Fast and Furious but falling a little short when it comes to performance.

edit: Not to mention, they all look like crap IMO.

Just yesterday, on my way from the office, I had a Boxster roll up behind me (an 18-wheeler was in the lane on the right) all nice and easy. Then, whilst waiting for the light, he began doing the low rev thing.

I am not normally one to pop off of a light anyway. Not to mention I know my XF...and I know it's limitations. When the light changed, I came off the line moderately and just pulled over to the lane in front of the truck ...and stayed there. The Boxster dropped it and went screaming past me as if he thought I was going to take him up on his offer.

I waved and smiled as he blew by. Not sure how long it took him to realize I wasn't chasing him. All I know is that, last I saw of him, he was around the bend and out of sight and still racing himself.

Some people don't have much sense.

Lol, people like that should get pulled over. I haven't had anyone try to race me yet, but I'm sure if they offer I'll never take them up. There's too many risks while doing a stupid drag on the street and I don't have the money to pay for all of them.

I drag race on the street every chance I get... I don't care if anyone is racing me or not... I just love the feeling of speed and the blurring of the highway as I move out from the red-light and watch the rpm push the max before I change into the next gear... with that said "yes" I do race myself and love it... God the sound of the engine over ripping because I hold so long before shafts, the entire car vibrating, trying to find some way to release all that freaking power... it is out of this world. hooah

Let me add I did a 4.6 Mustang a few days back... we came off the light at the same time but traffic kept screwing us around... people noticed what was going on with us and next thing you know we're both setting at the red-light with open road in front of us, you can see people setting behind us (this is in the middle of the day mind you) waiting for that light to turn green, looking at each other as if to say "look at this, a real freaking drag race right here right now"... the light turned green and we both came out of the hole hard, he pulled me for just a second, and I hit 2nd moved back in front just by a noise, we were moving hard and fast, but just at the end I missed 4th and hit 5th, losing rpm and the Mustang pulled me... looked down at the speed o meter and we were kicking 110 miles per hour in the azz... it was beyond words. God I love seeing how fast this car can get to the next red-light... HOOAH
