- cats, and stock muffler + 40 series flowmaster
well i took my xfire to my trusted exhaust shop and took off the back 2 cats, and added a 40 series flowmaster, and kept the stock tips.
sounds awesome, very, very, very loud -- sounds like a late model mustang w/ a h-pipe and flowmaster.
if you want alot of sound i recommend doing this.

j/k ... i couldn't resist.
I did exactly that to my old grand prix sedan, except with new tips and 2 series 40 mufflers... my as* shook like I was riding chopper. Too much for a sedan, but this car? Maybe...
my first concern would be smog...will you still pass? if i do this should i have my current exhaust flanged and the new one installed flanged as well so i can pick and choose my exhausts, i'm all about making a ruckus but if i doesn't pass smog the car is useless to me.
Don't flanges commonly leak?
If so there are quality guys that will do the welding cheap. For example, there is a guy 1 mile from my house that has done 2 custom cat backs for me. I paid him $60 for a single muffler and $100 for a dual exhaust on a later car. (myself bringing the muffler, tips, etc) He'll supply the shop, tubes and labor. He even leaves the car up there for you to inspect it all and make adjustments. I think that's a reasonable cost...

it was done in ks, and yes it is illegal -- however we have no smog tests, so it doesn't really matter --
update: it is very very loud, and as you can expect does have rpm's that don't sound that good, but i think thats just me cause i'm not used to it.

I was running a Flowmaster Delta Force 1 chamber. 3 inch in 3 inch out. I loved the sound and loved setting off car alarms.
