Sebring clones the Crossfire
I took a good look at the Sebring at the dealership while getting the Crossfire repaired (another story). It's hard to separate my feelings for the crossfire from the dud this appears to be. Its about as useless as a mini 300. One of the great things about the Xfire is how unique it is. Now it has a couple of ugly stepsisters.

All I know is, the first time one of these new Sebring owners comes up to me and says "it looks like we have the same car", I am going to **** on his tires.
I will never buy another Chrysler. They just cheapened my car.

As for "never" buying another Chrysler... I would never have bought a Chrysler, including my Crossfire, had it not been built in Germany using MB parts.

I also saw the Sebring at the dealership, (Huffine's, Denton, TX) this morning. I dropped the XFire off to have new tires installed. Bought the tires from Tire Rack.
As I sat in the Sebring ($18,000+) I noticed the top of the dash is almost an exact copy of ours, right down to the center spine, leading off the hood. I also noticed it was a cheap material, that was bulking where the passenger side air bag was located. The rest of the interior was "acceptable" but just barely. When will these guys wake up and put the money into the place we live in while driving? The car itself is not a bad intermediate family car, when compared to the other offerings. I would like to see one of the $26,000 Touring Editions with the 3.5LV6 and six speed manumatic, for comparison of materials.
Oh, picked up the XFire after lunch. Everything done, no scratches or chips on the wheels. Nice work...total bill was $43.00 to R & R four tires including mounting and balancing.

I will buy another Chrysler car. I became a convert in 2000, and haven't seen anything in the other North American builders that comes close to a Chrysler in styling and innovative features. Of course, the new all electric vehicles coming out from Phoenix Motorcars (as seen in SEMA 2007) show tremendous potential for the immediate future. But I'll bet they end up using a GM platform. Still, 250 miles on a 10 minute, $3 charge...with a battery pack projected to last 12 years...that's amazingly innovative. And we're talking full passenger load, highway speeds.

To get back on subject, my wife will accept no other car than a Sebring Convertible. So if the new 2007 ragtop is a piece of crap...I'll be shopping for a 2006 Sebring...and maybe it will become a collector's item (sorry to dig that in).
