Sebring clones the Crossfire
The Road and Track Magazine August 2006 issue has a picture of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring on page 28. It looks like the Mercedes Benz SLK sports car that turned into a Chrysler Crossfire has morphed into a $20K family sedan. I can't wait to hear a neighbor tell me that his Sebring is more practical for hauling the kids than my Sebring.

I think it looks okay. The new sebring is discussed here:

All I can say is YUCK. I am sure there are people out there that will love this design but I personally think it looks like a mini van they tried to morph into a family car...
just some? looks like the airflite was a design study for the new Sebring. never noticed it until you put them side by side...
i wonder if the interior will be as fun as the Airflite...

Herr Doktor had to do something with all of those Crossfire hoods sitting in Germany. Recycle them to the Sebring...what a great idea.
One article even states the designers went to the Crossfire and used the styling cues you see, the grill, headlights, and hood design. Perhaps the Crossfire is the new corporate identity for Chrysler. Yes, I am being sarcastic...sorry.
Damn!, that things pretty close to the concept car, if they could only chop that roof line a couple inches they'd have a bigger hit. I think the car is going to do VERY well, especially when seen in person!
I'm sorry, but I think the new Sebring is butt ugly. Crossfire meets 300 doesn't work for me. It's like trying to mesh a Porsche and a Hummer. Seeing the new Sebring is like going to a party and finding the 250 lb. tomboy is wearing the same dress as your date.
I had a new Sebring behind me yesterday and I have to say, I found it to be just FUGLY. Not sure if it was the color selection, but it was just not pretty!!! The front-end just did not look as sleek and sexy as it does on our cars.
Anyone else see one yet and have an opinion?

Speaking of cloned hoods ... this seems a bit familiar too.

I had a look at the car the other day while at the dealer. It's nothing like the concept car, the lines have been muted; nothing special going on in the interior, it doesn't look much different conceptually than the Chrysler LeBaron GTS I bought in 1985.
As for the hood, the visual impact it creates on the XF is super. A low wide car with a long hood (in respect to the overall size of the car), gives the hood grooves they're particular visual effect. This would seem to mean that it's becoming a bit of a signature on Chryslers? Where are these design teams getting their input from? I'm sure this will look great on the next gen Chrysler mini van.

Maybe they will try to create a fender (or whatever you call that thing that is over the front wheel) for a motorcycle down the road that resembles our sleek little hoods!

This is not the Sebring you see on the official Chrysler web site.
