Default SLK with Crossfire interior pieces

I was browsing MBforum and came across these pictures. This guy used several Crossfire pieces on his SLK320. Find them.

porterhouse,

I think the Crossfire interior looks much better. I really don't like the wood on the steering wheel rim either.

It not that, this guy used Crossfire parts in his SLK230, its that DC used the SLK parts in the Crossfire. Other than the body, there ain't much new in the Crossfire, it's essentially left over MB parts and technology. The one difference between the SLK 230 and the crossfire, if you look at the MB photo just above the center vents, you see a cut-line in the dashboard, that's a dual cup-holder. Why this did not carry over to the Crossfire, I'll never know.

We all know that Crossfire shares just about everything with the R170 SLK's. I just brought it up because i found it interesting that someone with an SLK changed the instrument panel, climate control and center dash piece from Crossfire. I am wondering if that car's dash lights up green.

porterhouse he didn't change the parts out of his SLK with those for a Crossfire that is the way the car came. Here picture another car with the same parts but in cedar.

Actually, if you look at the instrument panel you'll notice that the gauge cluster has indeed been swapped. The MB cluster is black lettering on a white background (which illuminates red/amber) and the Crossfire cluster is white letters on a black background (which illuminates green). I have heard of several SLK owners doing this swap.

bobs MB makes both so I don't know if they were switched out or not. SLK gauges are white background with black lettering. CLK gauges are black background with white lettering. I have attached a few CLK dash pictures for comparison. Besides the Crossfire gauges are MB in fact 99.9% is MB. When cross referencing parts for our car against MB parts it appears our car spans more then one platform.

Hello, i have a question. Will the pillar covers from the SLK R170 320 fit the Crossfire?

ALL of the Crossfire interior trim pieces are listed as discontinued by Chrysler/MOPAR. There are still some parts available new from Chrysler dealerships but the price of those doubled or tripled at the instant they were discontinued at the corporate level. Mercedes-Benz has handled the availability of interior trim pieces less harshly in that they still list R170 NOS (new old stock) trim pieces which are gathering dust on the shelf... so availability is hit & miss. Still, it's more honest than EVERYTHING suddenly disappearing at the "stroke of midnight" like some kind of magic pumpkin!

By far the best source for discontinued NOS Crossfire parts is Quirk Chrysler in Braintree, Mass.: https://www.ebay.com/str/quirkparts Quirk Parts EBAY store
Once or twice per year they'll have a parts sale where they knock 30 or 40% off list, but there's no way to get Quirk to send out a sale notice. What you can do though, is use the EBAY feature "NOTIFY ME if/when seller lowers price of item".

I agree with everything you said. It was like overnight all the parts are discontinued/NLA. Even the most random part is not available, like did they make only 10 of them? If any of the 193 parts are available by some miracle they are beyond overpriced. I wonder if they just threw away most of the 193 parts. The shared Mercedes parts I think they sold back to Mercedes or someone else. Like I have said before I am starting to see a lot of the Mercedes parts being discontinued also, when before 90% of the parts were still available.

I've seen Quirk parts increase prices the past year or 2 and I keep a close eye on them.
