Default Advice needed

Reported on a couple of occasions now on the forum regarding the reception on my radio. Had all things checked out by the dealer and they have traced the problem to the rear screen which holds the aerial. My local dealers technician and the manager himself advised that a new rear screen is required and this would be a claim under the cars warranty as its an '04 plate. The claim has been blocked by an area manager saying that the screen is not covered under warrenty as its not a manufacturing fault. His words were. THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR SCREEN WAS CAUSED BY SOMETHING THAT'S BEEN PUT IN THE BOOT OR BY SOMEONE PUTTING SOMETHING IN THE BOOT. So where do I go from here ? Any advise would be great. Is this area manger correct. Price of new screen £988.00 + Vat fitted.

i'm guessing they are saying something scratched the imbedded antenna on the inside of the rear hatch glass. if its not covered... i would search a salvage yard for a like new discounted one.

can you see a scratch or break in the antenna (in the glass)? maybe it can be repaired... like the rear defrost line/wire can with a repair kit.

Did they show you the break or scratch?
Has your radio reception always been bad?
Why don't you try to work a deal? Usually a
dealer will work with you. If you own, not lease,
are you considering an extended warrantee?
They make good $ on the warrantees. Buy the
warrantee if they will fix the antenna. Just a thought!!

As a last resort you could always mount an external antennae (the roadsters have one).
