Resetting the service reminder?
Resetting the service reminder?
Hi All,
Has anyone attempted to reset the service reminder on their XFire yet? Mine is on for the Service B and would like to turn it off without having to pay a Chrysler dealer to do so. I just had the oil changed, filters inspected as well a lube job today. The dealer I bought the car from isn't a Chrysler dealer but sells and services high end cars. (Today I sat in a 2004 SL55 AMG-$95k) They work on Mercedes all the time and the service manager and I spent some time together trying to figure it out. Apparently it isn't the same as the SLK. The SLK uses the buttons on the steering wheel that are used for radio controls. We obviously don't have those buttons on our steering wheels. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks

This has been posted before...
1. Turn the key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the ****/button to the left of the display twice.
3. The present status for days remaining or distance traveled is displayed. Within ten seconds turn the key to OFF.
4. Press and hold the ****/button to the left of the display, while turning the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for days remaining or distance traveled is displayed once more. Continue to hold the ****/button to the left of the display. After approximately ten seconds, a tone sounds and the display shows 6,000 miles (10,000 km) for approximately ten seconds.
5. Release the ****/button to the left of the display.

Re: Resetting the service reminder?
I had to do this recently.
After wearing a hole in my thumb from mashing the darn button about two dozen times, I finally got it.
IIRC, the "trick" is in the second step. Forget the "within one second" stuff. What they mean is: "almost instantaneously press the ****/button twice." When you get the status displayed, you're golden. The rest is cake.
