See what you can do with that, I'll wait to see if Andrew can pull off something on this forum and write some meta data into the thread so it will show-up in internet searches.

I realize this is somewhat short notice, but perhaps a mod could start a thread with a poll so we could get a ride of the month for the first month of the new year?

What do you think we should do about this ?
I have so many "Irons in the Fire" I do disappear from time to time...
Work, Remodeling the house, Computer Surfing, Shooting, R/C Boating, Real Boating, R/C On/Off Road Racing, three different Vehicle directions, Watching HDTV, Playing on the XBOX/XBOX360...remember I'm just a kid!!!

This idea will be something we have needed to recognize all the creative mods the have been done.
Only thing (My 2 cents)...Lets keep the topic on the CROSSFIRE and NOT on scantily clad young ladies. There are already publications for that.

We just chose pics of the year over on community.net. It is fun.
we have best Roadster, coupe, and group. It's fun, but we
have suggested having it more than once a year. Great idea...

This is slightly different, but kind of in the same ballpark...
Several months ago I had suggested to Andrew that maybe you could replace the "Most Popular Images" section of the gallery with a profile of a different member each month. No offense meant to those whose pics are in this section, but it does get a little monotonous looking at the same pics.

Just another thought for something new and different.

I like the idea. Maybe it would motivate more members to post gallery photos. I like to see what others are doing to their cars. Everyone has different tastes and style. That's what makes this such a great forum.
Bring on the competition!

I looked on vb.org for a Ride of the Month hack but it seems as thought there isn't one available. I mean I could probably write something simple but I don't have access to the forum I used to run (middle of integration to another server)to test it out but we could easily make a thread or make a section in the mean time to be sourced from a picture on the front page near the top, under the gallery pics.

It can be done, but if you need any help with doing it I can help out with my basic vB coding knowledge.

EDIT:

I actually found one that will work but it will need to be modified once per month to fit the links of the member to the gallery or to the thread in which the Ride is featured. So whoever has Admin rights to the server and all that jazz...look at this link. I'll try to modify it to our needs as "Ride of the Month" if this goes through.

(non VB license owners will not be able to see what it looks like or DL the code unless I post it here).

Alright, since none of the other moderators have taken this bull by the horns. Let's try this... I'll create a ride of the month post with voting from other members... I try to have Julian make it as a sticky... I'll also try to work out some sort of prize from someone... gimme a few weeks to work on that... I'm thinking perhaps we can get some stuff from http://www.chryslerpartsdirect.com or maybe plugs, filters, etc... Don't hold me to any of this until I can try to coordinate this thing...

This is what I think should be done to submit your "RIDE OF THE MONTH".

3 photos that best represent your car, with a list of modifications / or stock OEM, A brief history of your ownership of the car, eg. when did you buy it, why did you buy it, etc...

This should all be posted to the "RIDE OF THE MONTH" that I will start... We'll have other forum members vote on the "CROSSFIRE" and "TRUST" that they will not vote more than once. Until I can get with Andrew and Juilan and figure out a way to make a STICKY that prevents someone from voting more than once per month...

I will also see if julian can highlight the winner with a pop-up photo when anyone signs-on to the forum...

I'll try to do this, but I don't own and operate the forum...

There's an option in the poll settings that will allow you to limit the vote to only 1 vote per member.

I briefed Andrew when we first mentioned this and he said he would contact JLR. We MAY have something soon.

And my dog ate my 4 volume library of "Scantily Clad Babes"...sorry.

Red would you like to set this up since you are more senior to me ? Not an age thing... But I think you became a moderator before I did...
