My Cat has gone AWOL
Hi,
I've just took my car in for a service (24,000 mile/3rd service) and here is the report,
The Cat Converter has gone so needs a new one. As my 3 year warranty ran out last December I felt like jumping off a cliff. Luckily it is covered under the 5 years engine and exhaust warranty which I had no idea about. Has this happened to anyone else? I have only done 24,000 miles.
Needs new brake pads. Now a good time to get the Greenstuff pads I have been meaning to get for the past 3 years.
A hose has to be replace which is a recall item.
On top of this I'm waiting for the parts to come in for a new boot (trunk for you yanks) latch which is sticking.
Also they gave my car a wash and somehow made it more dirty then when I took it in after only cleaning it 2 days before.

Mine is due it's third service next month.
Never heard a problem with the cat.
I must ask about the 5 year warranty on the engine and exhaust.
I have never heard of this.
Don't buy Greenstuff pads.
I spoke to EBC directly and was told the Crossfire will eat these are they are to soft.
I was advised to buy Redstuff although I still got a lot of dust with them so I bought Rotex Gold.
It was the best purchase I ever made.
Brakeworld now sell to the U.K.
You just need to phone them up to order them.
Can I ask how much the service was?
Was it an A or B service?
Mine is due a B and was told it used to be nearly £500 and is now reduced to £280 and because I supply my own oil it (Mobil one) will be £200.

Norrie, the woman from the dealer even said that not many people know about the warranty so I'm just going along with it. The service cost me £183 from my local dealer. I also got 3 other quotes ranging from £199 to £240. I think is was a basic service cos the last one cost £330.
About the Rotex pads how much did they cost with postage. The dealer said they can fit them for me but do I need to know anything before I hand them over.
BTW a new Cat would of cost £700 - £1000.

I can't remember but I think they were around £100 all in for front and rear.
No you don't need to know anything about fitting.
I fitted them myself and no problems.
Check out this link as they are cheaper.

Emission control devices are usually covered under an extended warranty.
MARK_UK, did your dealer tell you what went wrong with your "catalytic converter"? You didn't get a hold of some "Leaded" petrol somewhere, did you?

Just as long as they don't spill the wine or leave the grape skins in the crossfire!
-4 degrees here this morning and I have to get out and start up the crossfire to keep the battery charged. My trickle charger never seems to do the job. I bought the good one too! Damn it's even cold inside here at work!
