There does seem to be a pattern with our cars, front end collisions, and only the passenger side air bag deploying. I wonder if the same pattern has been established over on the SLK website (since those cars have been around longer). If so, it may just warrant an investigation (and possible recall) before some "drivers" get seriously injured. (If there hasn't been any already).
To add insult to injury, You didn't happen to get "cited" for failure to control, did you?
It might not be a bad idea to go to your family Doctor for a check up. If for no other reason than insurance purposes. Just in case some "medical" problems pops up in the future, related to your injuries.
Good Luck.
No I didn't get "cited", but I did ask the State Policeman if he could state in his report that it was the sand all over the road that caused the wreck. He said that he would doctor up the report the best that he could, but he told me that he thought I was going a little to fast.

It was an elderly couple in the car that forced me to take the far outside edge of the curve. It's been freezing rain and snowing around here for a few weeks and the salt & sand they spread was the main cause of the accident. It's been good weather around here for a few day's and everyone driving this busy county road caused all the sand to gather on about three foot of the outside edge of the 90 degree turn. I've got some pic's of the sand and I'll try to get my wife to help me post them along with the car.

I was busy yesterday morning getting some wheels put on a truck, then later in the day we had some thunder storms roll through with lightening so we had the computer shut down most of the day. This past Monday my wife and I both bought new vehicles, I bought a new '07 GMC 4X4 to replace my leased Xfire when it was to go back in July. I guess it was good timing, now I won't have to get my SRT6 out in the nasty winter weather.

I hope it's totaled, that way Farm Bureau can make the last four payments and I won't have to worry about the turn in process. The irony of the whole accident deal was that morning on my way to work I mailed in the last insurance payment and when I got home I had a big envelope in the mail from Chrysler containing all the information I needed for the turn in process. But the sad thing is I just spent over $800 dollars on new tires that I only put about 2,000 miles on.

It was on a three year lease program and was to be turned in July 19 of '07. I had four payments left, which I hope Farm Bureau will be making.

Sorry to hear about your accident bud, but +fireamx said, you're ok, that's what matters...
As for cars blending in...HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS ON...rain or shine...if they miss you then you know they weren't looking.

What really sucks though is if the sand wasn't there it would have never happened. I tried to get the insurance company to cover it under comp. instead of collision because of the sand, but they wouldn't do it. There goes my good driver discount, I have not had a claim or a speeding ticket for 10 or 15 years.

You were right Andrew, just got the call from the insurance company and she's totaled, $20,834 of damage. Now I'll have to see how it works out with this lease deal, the insurance company and Chrysler Financial are working with each other to come to an agreement.

Do you think the car protected you very good given the circumstances of the crash? I read another post on here where someone hit a telephone pole going very fast and walked away with only minor injuries also. I guess our xfire's protect the passengers very well!

According to the NHTSA. It has a 5 star crash test rating.
