Question Tire Pressure ???

Hey Guys !!! Love This Site !!!
I Have Had My Xfire For About 7 Months And I Am Loving Every Minute Of It... I Have A Couple Questions That I Tried Looking In The "search " Mode Of The Site But Maybe Some One Can Answer This Post. I Bought Stock Chromed Rims For This Summer, I Plan To Use The Original Ones For The Track ...But Will The "Tire Pressure" Light Go Off If The Sensor Is Not Present In The Track Set??? Also I Was Thinking About Those Performance Chips They Sell??? Do They Really Work??? Or Are They A Bunch Of Hype??? I Would Love More Power ...But I Will Not Risk Such A Fine Machine Over A $50 Chip ...Has Anyone Installed It With Out Any Problems???

Yes, the light will illuminate while you're using your "track wheels without the sensor", but will go back to normal when you put the other ones back on...

Yes, chip tuning does produce higher hp #'s over the OEM. And if you're thinking that you will pay $50 for an ECU modification, you're sorely mistaken. Think more in the range of $600. And best verifiable dyno numbers for ECU mod. on the Crossfire is from Speed Innovations, posted here on this site. But, you're only going to get somewhere in the range of 18-22 hp gain, depending on your engine...

Cool Re: Tire Pressure ???

about the chip... I was talking about the ones they sell on "EBAY" ...they claim same gains as an ECU upgrade...but for around the price I mentioned earlier...
I will go with my gut feeling and say they are crap right???...I would love to do an ecu upgrade...but will the additional Hps cost me more at the pump??? and do they have a negative effect on the life of the engine in the long run???

I have mixed answers for your question about the ECU software from e-bay... First of all, I have no idea which ECU software that you are talking about... It might be the BOSCH factory software that comes on a CD and includes all MB vehicles prior to 2006 and has various timing maps for each engine, or something else... Would love to help you, but I can't without additional information.

I will tell you this though, if you haven't done ECU / FMU, etc. re-programming before and you don't do it for a living, leave it to the professionals... Otherwise you're going to waste your $$$ / TIME and have your car sitting in the garage collecting dust while you try to figure out why it won't start...

It's not rocket science, but it is a process that takes a modicum of experience, knowledge and specific equipment that would cost you much more than $600...

Search this forum a bit more... You'll find your answers...

If you are looking at performance chips for $50, I assume you are looking at the ones that are simply a $0.15 resistor that is wired into some of the sensors on the engine. I think they simply trick the computer into advancing the timing. Do a search and I'm sure they have been discussed on here in the past.
