Well I just got back from my day at The Streets of Willow Springs...What a fun day, everyone should experience this once in their lives. First off, the Crossfire did very well. What a great little car! There was a Gallardo, a Z06, and a 600 HP R32 there and I still had people looking at my car and saying how good it looks.

I found that the best way to drive the Crossfire is by using its strong suit: Light weight and good brakes. It doesn't like to go into corners hot while braking, which can be said about most cars. If you brake in a straight line and really hard, I was out braking many of the cars and that gave me an advantage.

Also, I was racing the whole day with the T/C off, and it was very predictable if you put it into a slide. However, it does naturally understeer, so you really have to make sure you set up the corner well and hold a good line.

Overall, I tell you what, that little car did so well, I was really proud of myself. Its so light and so nimble I was having the time of my life. If only tires weren't so darn expensive.

i have the exact same impression as you, very light and easy to toss around and i was braking WAY later than everyone last weekend.

We ended up having a Gallardo, a Z06, a 600 HP R32, a C6, and a 350Z, among others.

 

Nice pictures... looks like you guys had a smallish group compared to our HPDE 1 & 2. Nearly 25 or more cars on the track at once... AND that was X2 as we had 1A & 2A, then 1B & 2B each had four sessions a day... it was CRAZY! ... but fun.

 

It was really nice to have a smaller group, by the afternoon, there were only about 4 guys going at it. I had about a 30 min session by myself in the middle of the day. Really one of the best experiences of my life.

I know, I needed some Xfire company!! It was absolutely ideal weather too. You should have been there...wide open track configured in whatever way we wanted it. I'm not even kidding, we left early, we had an hour left but we were so tired and there were only 4 cars left. It was heaven.

are you and your buddies by any chance renting SOW again? i remember you saying you guys might this september.

me and my buddy want to go this september. he already signed up for Big Willow with opentrackracing. i'm going to go with him but in the condition that he runs SOW with me. so i'd rather run SOW with you guys renting out the track and having to do unlimited runs.

let me know if you guys are and can get an invite (for at least 2 people). if not, we'll go run with redlinetrackevents and you're welcome to go with us.

 

Yeah, I think we are going to go again in September, I am not sure the date yet, but its in the pipeline. I'll let you know.
