I'm in the market for some new tires, so I've bee driving around most of the time with my traction control off. I heard that it will "re-activate" if you drive a little too nuts... Has anyone experienced this?

Would anyone find it worth while to have a little black box behind your dash that will automatically de-activate TC when your car starts and perhaps will de-activate it again if it comes on while driving?

...of course, the plans and device would be sold for novelty purposes only...

 

No the TC will not active while driving like a retard. If the TC is off and you feel something kick in to control your yaw, that would be the Stability control. That is always on unless you pop the SC/TC/ABS fuses.

 

I think this has come up before and I've always been a little confused about T/C vs ESP.
I have always thought that TC was for initial take off and ESP was at speed.
My owners manual says T/C doesn't kick in til 25 mph.

Can anyone clarify?

 

Traction Control is what keeps you from spinning your tires under acceleration. Stability control is what keeps you from (or tries to at least) ending up in a ditch during hard cornering and/or wet and icy roads. Unfortunately the system isn't perfect, and on occasion the ESP will kick in under initial acceleration, especially on rough or uneven pavement.

 

But was does the manual state that T/C kicks in at 25 mph?
Dealer has no clue.
