Yes, lots of little pits...but it seems this has been true of most my cars.

It's the downside to having shatter-proof glass. Instead of one pane of quarter inch glass, you have two panes of eighth inch glass. The outside layer is less resistant to cracks from flying rocks than it would be if it was one solid sheet. You also have to take into account the rake of the windshield and the probability that the designers decided on thinner glass to keep the weight down.

Yeah Andrew, I agree...maybe because it sits low too? My truck wasn't as bad.

Got the same thing here. The Crossfire windshield seems to be much more prone to chips than my Prelude was. It's really distracting when driving into the rising or setting sun.

Are you guys sure these are not just contaminates that can be removed with a clay bar?

Same goes for my wind screen. I tried to use one of those "glass polishers" and it helped just a little bit. I do not recommend anyone using it thinking it will make the pit marks go away.

yes they are...

i spoke to a company during sema... my dealer cost was about $100. this would need to be applied when the car or windshield was new.

they displayed it on the over done (imo) black srt crossfire but the kit was hand cut as a prototype piece.

Unhappy Re: exceptionally soft glass??

My Windshield is getting lot's of chips. I speed past SEMI's because of the rocks they throw up on cars. I seem to get them more, because of sitting so low.

But, I also use to use those fiber cloths on my windshield, after washing the car. But it seemed to leave little fibers on the windshield ....And boy , when I was driving into the sun, it was like I had lint all over the windshield! And these cloths were new, and also washed....So this tells me, the windshield is worse than it really looks like.

So back to white terry rags for me, so that I can see in the direct sun light!

Now I just wait for the big rock to put in my insurance claim for a new windshield, I wonder if I can get one with tinting on the top edge?

BTW that black crossfire above its a shame isn't it.

Yes, spring has finally arrived. It's been mild but rain on and off since last Thursday. Can't wait for a little sun to bring the top down.

Andrew, I haven't noticed that there is exceptional amounts of pitting/dings in the glass, but upon closer inspection, i have noticed that i have a secret factory installed target on my windshield that says "aim rocks here"! After having a rather nasty stone chip in my windshield in the fall, i've had a number stones tossed my way. A particularly nasty one just this past friday smacked my glass, just above the previous chip repair.

I need to call chrysler and get this windshield replaced sans bullseye.

The top layer of the windshield is indeed very soft (softer than other cars I have owned as well). If you look ... you will also notice fine lined scratches caused by the windshield wipers as they wipe dirt and debris along their path on a rainy day.
