MSRP Dec 2003 6-speed... $34,495

KKB where I am:

Trade In... $17,885
Private Party Sale... $19,930
Retail Value... $23,350
lol @ getting almost 18k for trade in.

I tried to trade it in, and the most they would come up with is $13,000. Mine in an '04 mint, with 15k miles. The first offer they gave me was $12,500. Then they told me about the lease buyback program they had. They said it would be cheaper just to pay the remaining payments. They told me later there were a bunch that were going to hit the auction to even further depreciate the cars. If this keeps up, I may buy another one for a daily driver. Hell 10k for one of these seems like a steal. Already got the winter set up.

My residual is 19k as well.

I paid $15,500 for my SRT-4 in October, they were giving me $15,500 for in on trade in on a SRT-8 300C. It was really a great deal, get out of two cars into one, 0 percent for 72 months, and paying below invoice on the 300.

What kept me from doing it was, if I did do it. I would be stuck with it. Already did it with the XF. No thanks.

I said it once, and I'll say it again. I am glad I leased. But 300 x 36 aint too bad.

Default Are 2004 holding their value?

Depends just like Ben and FP stated. If you bought your '04 in the first 6 months after they were released and you paid list or more the answer is definitely no. However, if you bought yours after the first 6 months and paid less then $30K the answer is probably yes. I bought my in April '04 for $29K out the door with the extended warranty and currently used '04 are going between $21 and $23 in this neck of the woods so I don't feel bad. If you think that is bad you could own and M5; friend's car has deprecated 20K is the same time Ouch!

Look at percentages...That only a 20-25 percent drop over 3 years. Or a residual of 80-75 percent, that is fantastic.

The XF stickered for 35k, mine was now worth 13k trade in. Thats a 63 percent loss in value. 04 Coupes here are worth in mid teens now, and 05 hovering around 19-20. Hell even SRT-6's are now hitting low 20's.

Owning a M5 is a rich man's game for a reason.

I re-read my original two posts, also the others that followed and have
to amend both of my previous post.

So now back to the original question... has the Crossfire held it's value?
The answer is still a definite NO.

It really doesn't matter what you paid. The car still has the original MSRP
posted on the window and that alone determines how it is holding it's value.

If you bought at MSRP a few years ago, you got screwed. If you bought low,
you got a great deal. But to determine if the Crossfire has held it's value, you
have to look at the MSRP and see what they are selling for now and their resale
value, not what you paid when the dealers offered huge discounts to get them
off their lots...

BEN47

In economics (and believe me ALL THINGS IN LIFE ARE ECONOMIC) there is a term called "Utility" meaning:

"utility is a measure of the relative happiness or satisfaction gained by consuming different bundles of goods and services. Given this measure, one may speak meaningfully of increasing or decreasing utility, and thereby explain economic behavior in terms of attempts to increase one's utility."

Do you enjoy your Crossfire? Can you measure your happiness when driving?

If so, who cares about the "Financial" characteristics of the automobile.

Just enjoy!!

BB (the economist)

Can you believe companies pay me for this crap!

Nice try...but it is nothing but economics which is incentivizing behavior...the #1 rule of economics...if the market incentivizes it, the value goes up, if it doesn't, it goes down...so far, Xfires do NOT incentivize a behavior...so the value goes down...which creates what we all have...a great deal for a great handling, German built (Mercedes Benz) car...more bang for the buck...don't read too much into it, just be happy & proud.

I don't want to make you feel bad. But i just bought a NEW coupe. They knocked off $11,000 of the sticker. I paid $19,500 for the car. The dealer got in forty new crossfires in. With the incentives they are dealing.

Sorry I disagree. I believe a "good deal" and "getting screwed" is a perception of the buyer and if that person cares what someone else thinks of their deal well that is a shame and a different issue.
As to holding its value well no, but if you purchased the car as an investment... sorry guys cars don't make good investments.
I made my deal and was happy to drive off with it and am still happy with my car and the deal I received at the time, no second guessing for me. The deal you guys made is your deal and it looks like some of you have buyers remorse and or are jealous of others and to that I can only say,
The sun is out and it's time to drop the top and cruse!!!

That would be the Base model.!
I look at this way. I've been admiring the car for awile. They had a few lease cars that had about 8k going for 18,000.
I didn't thnk that was a bad deal, but when I saw the car going for that kind of money I jumped on it.
I feel I got a great deal and alot of car at that. It's just ashame they are going to discontinue that vehicle. Who knows , keep it nice, and garage it and in twenty years it may be worth big bucks. As for now I'm just going to enjoy my midlife crisis vehical and the exwife can kiss my spoiler.
