New Rims Caused Airbag Light To Go Off!
HEY GUYS ...WELL THE NEWS ARE I GOT NEW CHROMED RIMS PUT ON TWO DAYS AGO ...THEY LOOK AMAZING ! JUST WAITING FOR RAIN TO GO AWAY SO I CAN WASH AN POST PICS ...BUT SOMETHING CAME UP THAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND. AFTER GETTING OUT FROM THE TIRE PLACE THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON !!! I FIGURED IT WAS A GLITCH AND WHEN TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN THE COMPUTER WILL RECALIBRATE IT SELF! ...WELL NO SUCH LUCK!!! I LOOKED IN THE PAST THREADS AND THEY ALL ARE RELATED TO A SEATS BEING REMOVED ...HAS NO ONE EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE??? AM I THE FIRST???...I WAS PRESENT AT THE SHOP TO SUPERVISE THE EXCHANGE...ALL THEY DID WAS PUT IT ON A LIFT AND RAISE IT ABOUT 2 FEET OF THE GROUND...IF ANYTHING I WAS EXPECTING A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR TO GO OFF BUT INSTEAD THIS ! ...PLEASE ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO RE SET OR DO I HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER???
Check if the air bag system has been manually turned off. Open the passenger side door. The passenger air bag manual control (key hole) is located where the door meets the body of the car. Turn it off and then back on and see if the issue is resolved.
Well just tried that and nothing!!! its goes off right after I turn the car on then it comes right back on ! I tried both on and off ...leaving it on ...leaving it off! Nope nothing... light still there.
Could it be just coincidence, and your pass seat is not properly connected? Make sure it is. I know that if it's not properly connected the air bag light will come on. It only lake a minute to check.
ok first thanks for all the advice ...but nothing seems to be helping...i checked both seats under and over and all plugs seem to be properly connected ...i even made sure by applying force on them and checking for any of them to be loose...but still turn the car on and the dash light still remains!
Let me jump in here and say that there is no way simply changing the wheels should screw-up the airbag system. The only way that could happen is if the person changing the wheels somehow broke one of the front or rear accelerometers.
Just a dumb question, but do your new wheels have TPMS transmitters? If not you're probably seeing the low tire pressure warning.

well the new rims are the stock rims the xfire comes with but just chromed ! same size and everything ...i had the guys remove the tire pressure sensors and put on the chromed wheels ...I was actually expecting for that light to come on but no that did not come on ...it was the airbag light in the dash that came on after I was almost home from the shop.

well honestly it must have been 5 minutes after i got out of the shop that the light came on ...as I mentioned before I figured it was a glitch ...but seems like the only thing left for me to do is to take it to the dealer to have the code read ...thanks you guys for all the help...
no...the airbag light I am talking about is the one on the dash where all the other warning lights come on like TPMS, brake light, seatbelt...right in front of you on the drivers side.
Was this problem ever resolved? I am having the same issue but my light came on out of nowhere. I haven't done anything to the car in 2 years other than drive it.
I am going to try that. My brother has a 2005 corvette that he rarely takes out of the garage. He said the same thing happened to him a couple of times but the light eventually went off on its own.
