road spare tire...Emergencies !
road spare tire...Emergencies !
Where is the best place to find a dummy spare for my crossfire to have when taking a road trip ? I hear mercedes SLK have one that I could use. If so what year and model. Also I would love to have a full real replacement time in the garage, one 19 inch, and one 18 inch just in case on hand. Would junk yards, although i hope not to see one there have this. What would be a fair market value for these items ?
Re: road spare tire...Emergencies !
I think it will still ruin your trip if you have to change a tire. Because where are you going to store a 19 " rim + the thickness of the tire. thats over 23" diameter, and its 9.5" wide. Really tuff fit in the hatch, but you can always put it in the passenger set if empty.
Re: road spare tire...Emergencies !
kardiac,
I wouldn't sweat the spare tire for trips. We bought our Crossfire strictly for road trips and when we go out we go for a week and will cover 2K-3K miles. I do have the roadside assistance with my auto insurance but that is only good if I have cell coverage so I pack a tire plug kit just in case to get me to the next town with service. So far we have put over 14K without any problems yet but I know our time is coming but I still wouldn't carry a spare.

Re: road spare tire...Emergencies !
The spare tire is the biggest problem with our cars. Just don't have one... We can get one but where do we put it? In our passengers lap? Hmmm, that may not be a bad idea... Ooopppsss I better not go there, the bride may tell me where to go... LOL. I carry a couple of things. 1, A tire plug kit, cost about $4 from NAPA. 2, Paper overalls for when the time comes to fix the flat, cost about $2.50. That way I can still keep somewhat clean. 3, Gloves... and 4, if all else fails, AAA. The first 3 things fit nice and neat in the little space next to the lug wrench and take next to no space at all. It's a just a gamble, but it's bound to happen sometime...
