Looking at an '04 Crossfire
Hey guys, I'm considering a 2004 Crossfire with 7k original miles for my wife. The guy will take $18k, what do you think? I realize that you can buy a new '05 base for close to this, but she doesn't drive an a manual transmission. Do these make for good daily drivers? What about the price? We don't plan on driving it in any snow/ice. Any advice would be much appreciated.
The vin# is 1C3AN69L34X004759, can anyone run a carfax for me?
Thanks in advance.

I drive mine daily and have been doing so for two years. I wouldn't drive it in the ice but when I haven't had a choice it drove just fine. Granted we don't get much snow and ice in middle TN. I think it sounds like an ok price, so long as it hasn't been smoked in. Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for.

I bought an '04 Coupe (Red) with 4K miles on it in Feb. Paid $18.5 for it. Mine had been in-service in Cincinnati since purchased new in 1/8/2004 - guy (A CFO for a Cincinnati company) clearly hardly ever drove it. It had one oil change (9/20/2006 - $95.80 by the dealer - Jeff Wyler-Cincinnati). I have had no issues (slight wind noise from driver's side window - TSB issue). Additionally I clarified with Chrysler on the phone prior to purchase and they confirmed it was covered under 7/70L powertrain warranty (which was important to me) and said I did not have to pay ANY xfer fee for the warranty. I changed the brake pads (myself) from stock to Akeebono ceramic (for better performance than Rotex (arguable) and to stop break dust). Car looks, drives and is mechanically perfect. No issues. The price you are getting quoted seems fair.
There are ALOT of these for sale, you may/may not get a better deal. Bottom line, check a car out carefully and make an individual decision based on the condition/history of the car under consideration, IMHO.
I've been driving mine daily for a few years.
When the tires wear, tramlining can become an issue. The ride gets a little harsh too.
If your wife likes a soft, comfortable ride, then you may want to consider a different car. If she likes a wild, exciting ride, then go for the CF!

Some dealers only allow their cars to accumulate a few 100 miles before they park them, it varies.
As an owner of a '04 myself, I think the car is worth alot more than 18k, naturally. But, I suppose that's what they're going for.
It's true you can buy a new base model for around 18k, and I personally think that's a steal (for all that you're getting). But as you pointed out, if your wife can't drive a manual tranny, that's not a viable alternative either.
As 13K9 pointed out, if you live somewhere you get alot of snow, you may want to rethink your potential purchase.
I bought my 04' from the dealer with 10 miles on it. Turning 26,000 on it now. I drive it everyday, and have only had two head lights replaced.
One thing to remember...I don't take it to shopping centers that are packed with cars. It's hard to find a parking spot, where the car will not get dinged!
My hubby has saved sooo much money from me NOT shopping to save my car. He's lovin it!
