Crossfireless
for two weeks + one day.
summary of events (first few parts mentioned in a previous thread):
day 1 Tues. clutch in car would not release. car stopped.
day 2. Wed. car carried to chrysler, chrysler wanted too much money.
day 3. Thurs. car checked--shattered clutch, car taken to transmission shop.
day 4. Fri. car becomes the two-week occupant of bay 3 at transmission shop, chrysler supposed to ship new clutch and flywheel, but doesn't.
day 5-6. Sat-Sun. car remains occupant at transmission shop.
day 7. Mon. Chrysler decides to ship parts.
day 8. Tues...
day 9. Wed. Car supposed to be ready to come home, but that was a week ago, and still no crossfire.
day 10. Thurs. Car remains on a lift.
day 11. Fri. Parts still not received.
day 12-13. Transmission shop closed for weekend.
day 14. Monday. Parts come in; installed on car. car won't start.
day 15. Yesterday. Transmission place believes it's a sensor, so they order it.
day 16. Today. Sensor comes in. installed-car still doesn't crank. turns out the sensor wasn't needed-shipped back. turns out crapsler sent the wrong flywheel.
so, now i have to wait till friday for what i hope is the real flywheel to be delivered and installed.
i wish the crossfires were just an independent car that had their own service departments.

you poor soul ... having to deal with that ... now tell me, how long did it take to shred up the clutch and did 19 year old bravado have anything to do with it ? please say yes so i do not worry as much about mine ... i drive like granny compared to when i was 19 ...
but really i do feel for ya ... that bites ...

doesn't matter how you drive as long as you don't pop the clutch or ride it. you must have not read my previous thread. i pulled onto a street and the car doesn't go anywhere. shifting at 3,000 rpms isn't what i'd call being a speed demon, personally. i don't take off quick. the only speed i hit is on the interstate and that has nothing to do with the clutch. if the stock clutch can't take it, i'll wait till the warranty expires (otherwise, chrysler will blame whatever else goes wrong on that) and get an aftermarket clutch / flywheel assembly.
sorry to seem frustrated, but the chrysler service here is horrible. they have one guy that can do anything to the car and they charge like crazy for the smallest crap and every time they give you that whole "that's what you get for having a high performance car" crap and it comes from a guy who couldn't tell you where the car was made. this is why the crossfire never "made" it - the company that provides it doesn't know anything about it - why i'm glad andrew made the crossfire emblems to cover the ugly gold ones up.

good point about why we should cover the emblems up ... hah up to that i was very against it but thats actually a very very good point ... i think i am neutral now.
anyhow, about the clutch, i read your other post and was jokingly trying to cope with the idea of it being that weak ... when i first got the car i searched around and found a performance clutch the slk320 guys were using ... the dam thing was $1,600 ! and it was not dual disc drag launch demon just a measly street clutch with slightly better material ...
high performance or not (mainly not) the dam thing is no different than any RWD car so those techs are just a$$hats .. i wish you luck, may you find the one non a$$hat crossfire tech out there.

yeah man. to be honest, i've never liked anything chrysler made. then, when i was about 14 or so i saw a picture of the crossfire concept along with others such as the dodge powerwagon or ramcharger and the jeepster. it's honestly the only chrysler i've ever liked and it figures they'd have no one to work on it but one guy who works there 3 days a week.
as far as the clutch goes, i think there's a couple aftermarket ones on ebay. it's too bad they're not much better than the stock one.

i got my car back today. it's awesome. the clutch pedal is a lot lighter than it was (and no it's not a psychological thing. the guy at the transmission shop said so too). i think my car was messed up from the beginning. but now, it's awesome.
