Consistant problem with Engine Management System
Hi Folks,
Hopefully someone out there can help me as my Chrysler service Dept seem to be clueless.
I have a 2 year old Roadster automatic. Ever since I bought the car the engine Management System (EMS) warning light has lit up consistently. It must have been in 15 times now with the same problem. The error code is P0410 - secondary air intake malfunction.
It has been reset, rewired, re-charged but to no avail. The problem occurs roughly every 350 miles (although after it was re-wired it did not occur again for some months).
The Chrysler garage now reckons that the battery does not charge itself enough because I do not use it regularly or when I do I do not take it on a long enough run to recharge the voltage sufficiently.
Can this really be the problem. I find it hard to believe that the battery drains so quickly - this has never happened to any of my other sports cars.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS DAMN IRRITATING PROBLEM?
Thanks in advance.

You had the car for quite some time..but did you ever talk to them about buying the car back? Sounds like you could've used the lemon law and asked for a new car. Not related to your question but just a thought.
How about hooking up a trickle charger to the battery when not in use, buy a cheap 1 Amp charger.
Also the battery is not a maintenance free battery so you have to check to make sure that there is electrolyte in the cells, top off with de-ionized water.
Any idea what a secondary intake malfunction is? I wonder if that relates to the dual stage intake plenum. could be you have a dead plenum valve actuator? Does the car stumble during acceleration.
Correction, it's not an intake malfunction it is, P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction.
If you haven't downloaded the free PDF repair manual I suggest you do it. On page 3,257 it will tell you where to begin. go to section 9-362 for diagnosis and repairing the problem. on page 1,927 give the details on code P0410.
sounds like you might have a bad relay, good luck!
