Unhappy Steering Wheel Locks!

Hey Crossfires,

I just got a used 2004 coupe yesterday and I was so excited when I drove off the lot, but once I got home I was really disappointed. When I try to turn the key in the ignition, the wheel locks itself and I can't turn the key at all. I'm not a new driver, so I know how to unlock a locked wheel but this is different. I took it out last night only to find myself stranded 11 pm with my friend alone in a parking lot because neither of us could turn the key.
Finally we had to ask for help from these 2 guys,( kinda scary) and one was finally able to turn the key.
I called the dealer today and they are going to pick it up and have it checked out.
I am sooo scared because I read on another website a complaint from a guy who said his steering locked while he was making a turn and the engine shut off.
Has anyone else experienced similar activities?
Please advice because I am freaking out!

Thanks,
Pink

I did that several times. And that's what one would normally do on a regular car, but somehow this is different.
This huge guy came and he couldn't even nudge the wheel.

Weird, I have no idea. That seems to be the common problem with new-crossfire owners.

Try taking the key out and reinserting while turning the wheel.

Please note in your service manual that ignition lock lubrication is a routine maintenance procedure to be done after a few years... This is to prevent the lock from freezing like yours did...

You are not the only owner who has experience "sticky lock syndrome".
