- smoke the criminal, call 911 on the parents,
then restore your faith in mankind by test driving something new at BMW.

Has the world really come to this? There are so many good points in this thread, where does one start! How about I just sum it up this way...This is all the fault of our legal system! Parents can't discipline their kids from fear that some teacher might hear about it and turn them into the authorities for "child abuse". You can't straighten out someone else's little brat for fear they'll sue you!

I'd love to know when a good spanking became such a bad thing!

It appears to me that you were nothing more than a juvenile delinquent. It's people like you, with your attitude, that have seriously undermined common decency, proper behavior, character and responsibility.

I think you did the right thing in calling 911. At least the parents will be informed and, if they are at all concerned, can correct it. I personally don't have any kids, and wouldn't know what to do to correct the problem myself. From experience, just telling misbehaving children that they shouldn't do it doesn't work if they think they're playing games with you. Leave the disciplining to the parents of the kids - who hopefully will take care of it instead of just letting their kids do whatever they please.

The problems start with the parents, or lack of. Are there actually parents in that both kids have a mom and dad at home, or is there only a mom in each household (assuming the kids aren't related)? Based on the kid's behavior I'm betting that there is little to no father figure in their lives.

What do you want kids to do stay home and play video games and watch tv like most of the American youth does I think that is much more of a problem than what has happened to you...

Now what really disturbs me is that you called 911... how could you be so unforgiving and judging of such a youngin to call 911 on him? Because of this he will likely be beat at home for his parents for umm... no reason... NO REASON at all... I am sorry but in this situation the kid seams more right than you are...

Take as it is... it is my opinion, but you post ideology offend me...

I will refrain from posting again on this thread...
what kind of crack are you smoking ? the kid is pointing a toy gun at him acting as if it was real trying to car jack him ... this will lead either to the kid being shot by a unknowing person thinking they are really getting car jacked (big media frenzy) or a cop shooting him thinking the kid is about to shoot him (bigger media frenzy) or the kid growing up with the mentality of thats ok and shooting you for your car a few years down the road ... there is a BIG problem with what these kids did and there is a GREAT REASON to call 911 ... mainly to alert them there is a kid running around with a toy gun (only recognizable to the police by a orange cap) and the police should be aware of it so the kid does not end up getting shot.

I Couldn't agree more. As I alluded to previously, this person is a prime example of what's gone wrong in this country.

Amen inteseblu:

I couldn't have said it better myself. Sidez comments are pretty high on the "tilt-0-whirl" meter for me as well. I have two kids and if I heard of or caught either of them pulling a stunt like this they wouldn't have a working trigger finger to even pick up a toy or any other gun. Shooting at squirrels or blowing up tin cans in the back yard in the burbs is a far cry from some punk kids trying to pull off a car jack. WTF? I would have called the cops and hung around until these little bastards were carted away by the police. My next meeting with them would have been in court. Even if they would get the obligatory pass in the court system at least they would have received a taste of things to come along with my 2 cents. Not that it would help. I fear these 2 are already too far gone.

Even though these little a$$holes didn't harm the car (or you this time) what does that have to with anything? There actions speak volumes... (oh ya... that's right, they're the victims here). If they were 18-22 and smart enough to remove the red tip from the gun, you would probably be talking to your insurance company, the police and a shrink right now instead of writing your comments on this forum.

Garagebandking, buy a junker to take into the intercity and leave the Crossfire in the garage. You'll be better off not flaunting the rewards of your hard work and accomplishments in an area where people don't appreciate what it takes to earn the things they or you have. Otherwise, I hate to say it, but your just asking for a repeat incident. Maybe for real next time...

That is exactly what I first though. I won't even park my car in my parking lot where it's dark, much less take it into downtown and leave it out of my sight. No way, no how.

Personally, had it been me, I'd have waited for the cops to show up and make sure those kids knew exactly what sort of crap they were wallowing in. Though that would have a downside too - had they been malicious they would have come back next time they saw my car and damaged it. It's a fine line. I think calling the cops on them was a good move though. Those kids are in the gutter already, and like a PP said - I doubt they have a father figure at home, or at least not a decent one.

Spoken like a true ostrich. Discipline works. My kids 'lernt the hard way and were never repeaters.
