Cool Driving in the rain

Ok, I'm tired of hearing it from my family because I keep my XF in the garage when it is raining and the roads are wet. I kinda wanted to know if others were like me so... Do you get your XF out when the weather is bad?

I wish I could keep mine garaged in bad weather, but my xfire is my daily driver.

Absolutely.

Snow/ice, I'll probably drive my Excursion, but just some rain? Crossfire.

Mine is a third car so I only take it out on nice days when the top can stay down.

Mine's the commuter car 365. or that's the plan: we'll see how winter is. The contis are like new and I do have the Saab as backup winter transportation. I guess I could get a second set of 18s and drop some Blizzaks on the XF, but that seems a little extreme.

The very first test drive I took in the Crossfire I headed up a steep hilly road with a bunch of blind turns. I was just starting to get a feel of the thing when it started to snow ! Hard, fast out-of-no-where snow storm. (typical Cincinnati March !) Here I am, have not driven a stick in 12 years, high horsepower rear wheel drive SHORT wheelbase car with fat performance tires ...

I quickly discovered ESP/TC/ABS systems are very nice to have.

Car was not a bit scary, very composed and confident in fact.

Now, I'll never let any road salt see my Crossfire if I can help it. I have an old Cherokee to get me through winter-time slop and take that kind of abuse. But rain is really no problem with the Contis. Once you slap on a set of DOT legal "R" compound autocross tires then, yes, maybe you should stay out of the wet stuff !

We're out here.
More than a 20% chance of rain - mine is staying in the garage.
It's my weekend/sunny day car and will be 'stored' for ~ 7 months out of the year.

Some knock me for it, and tell me drive it every day or 'Drive the wheels off of it.'
But hey, to each their own.

Rain no problem. Snow, probably not. I have a 4x4 Explorer for the snow and salt. Crossfire will be in the garage and always ready for a dry road in the winter though.

Amen brother, the car stays in the garage when the weather is bad unless we are out on road trip and get caught out in a storm. Unfortunately my car spend nearly 5 months a year in storage to prevent damage from all the gravel/salt/fertilizer they put on the road after the first snow fall, even with that I still have 3 rock chips in the windshield.

First outing on the track ever and it was in the rain in my Crossfire SRT6... now THAT was a learning experience.

ESP WILL save your butt... just don't challenge the laws of physics... you WILL loose.

I drive my car every day, had it two years and two months and it has just under 6,000 miles on it. I don't drive it when the roads are slippery with ice and snow, rain I'll drive in. It does sit in the garage if say I wash it and have nowhere to go and its raining or if I hear hail is in the forecast. Been down that road before and its not fun to deal with. I was told its ok to get it wet just be careful!

Daily driver for me... It will see everything mother nature will through at it. If the Winter weather gets BAD(which happens rarely here), I can borrow a 4x4 from work...

Even though the Pilot Sports look like racing tires, I'm surprised how well they channel water. So far so good. ESP has never been activated during normal driving as of yet. Very confident in the rain...

We have had our X-Fire for 1 year and she had never seen rain. My wife and I took a road trip to a casino in southern Indiana last week-end and got caught in rain for about an hour. So I spent all day Sunday with the power washer and lots of soap cleaning her back up.

The car is stored in the winter and will never see salt as long as I am alive. Had a Great trip with the top down except for the hour of rain.

Looking forward to inclement weather driving. Hey, if it sucks, I'll grab the saab, but the preference is the crossfire. I mean, it's not made of gold... or glass. Maintain it, and enjoy it or sell it, I say. I'm saving it for no one!

I've been very impressed with the Xfire's bad weather manners. I've driven in rain, snow, sleet, hail & high winds. Traction control kicked in a few times, but it just did its thing and all was well. The good tires help a lot I'm sure. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Just be careful, that's all.
