Default Autostick manual shifting

Hey guys. Just a quick question about the Autostick. When shifting, do I need to take my foot off of the gas? Would I be doing any damage if I didn't remove my foot when shifting?

no need to lift.

also a neat feature... if you hold the shifter to the left (while moving)... the car will down shift in to the lowest gear possible for best acceleration.

As a matter of fact, if you forget to shift or are not quick enough, it will shift automatically right before you redline. Aren't computers wonderful?

Nope. My fiancé loves it, but I only use it to pass slow drivers/annoying teenagers.

I don't even shift anymore... The transmission has learned my habits and will even hold gears in the corners at the track.

The Auto-Stick in these cars are VERY intelligent.

In standard auto mode, do we have to hit the switch on the floor to get the car to shift into the next lower gear? It seems as though that's what needs to happen in my car. Again, this is in automatic mode. If I don't mash the pedal to the floor to actuate the switch, it stays in the gear I'm in and is sluggish (obviously because the revs are low).

Also if held to the right - automatically goes back to D drive into fully auto mode......does that equate to neat X2 or neat too or too neat or....oh well, I digress....

old post I know but is that really true? you mean your car just stays in an "aggressive" mode?

You shouldn't have to press the pedal all the way down to the floor and press the switch to downshift. Just a press on the gas past halfway will shift mine down a gear. If I press all the way to the switch and click it down it will shift to the lowest number gear for max acceleration.

Maybe I need to do a reset, because mine will not shift, no way no how until I mash it to the floor. :-(

Ya I would try that drive by wire reset procedure and see if it changes anything.
I do have a sprint booster on my 04 but even before that it would downshift without a full to the floor throttle press.
