YEP...

I just got off the phone with them.
They will order it precut from Germany for $58 plus tax.
John said it would take about a week to get.

I will pay for shipping to me in San Diego or I might be able to get them to have Germany ship directly to my home. Thats if it really comes from Germany or maybe from TX (?) as I have read in some of the posts.

I need to fax my purchase doc with the VIN and my name along with a copy of my drivers Lic.

Once they verify I own the XF they will order it.

I will let you know.

Thanks again for the help

The panic button cover on my key disintegrated so I asked the dealer to replace it. They did so but the new key quit working about 2 weeks after I got it.

It quit working while my Crossfire was parked in a hotel garage during a blizzard after the Indians home opener. So there I was, freezing in an open garage above Lake Erie at 9:30 on a Friday night. It took me a minute to realize that there was a slot in the door button that I could stick the metal key into to unlock the car. Thank you Chrysler for that moment of panic.

Needed a second set as, like many, my SRT-6 only came with one. This e-mail reply from Jim Marsh Chrysler, prior post this thread...

WE HAVE BEEN GETTING ALOT OF REQUESTS FOR CROSSFIRE KEYS.WHAT HAD HAPPENED
WAS CHRYSLER HAD A PRICING ERROR
IN THEIR SYSTEM.SO THE PRICES YOU ARE BEING QUOTED FROM OTHER DEALERS IS
CORRECT. FOR SECURTY WE ARE NOT
FILLING ORDERS BY FAX ANY LONGER.A LOCAL 5 STAR CHRYSLER DEALER CAN GET THE
KEY FOR THE SAME PRICE AND TURN
AROUND TIME THAT WE CAN,SPEAK TO THE PARTS MANAGER IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS.
JOHN DERRICK
PARTS MANAGER

I checked the part on Parts Direct, and it does in fact show a list of $134.99. Their price was $109.99 but they too would not do it by phone or fax. I finally ordered it from a local 5 Star dealer as John Derrick suggested. They confirmed the same list price and gave me 10% off, but with the tax it was still $130. Timing is everything. For now it looks like that's the book price for these things. No-one should be charging more, but unless you know someone at the dealership it's probably not going to be any less than 20% off of that. Suggest bringing a copy of the part number and the programming instructions when you order it. The guy in the parts department at my local dealer seems like he geniunely trying to be helpful, but didn't have a clue as to whether they had to do anything to program it or, as is the case, it came that way.

So how would you get one to work if you ordered it off of eBay uncut?

You pretty much can't. Don't buy the ones from ebay. No one can cut them to match your car AND the transponder chip inside the fob won't match your ignition system. So it won't start your car anyway.

There are a couple RUMORS of people reprogramming a transponder, but I can't find anything substantiated about it. I also did some internet research, and you can't even buy the equipment to program the transponder chips. This is all done deliberately so thieves can't buy it either.

The fobs on ebay are just people that got screwed passing the screwing along to others, or unscrupulous dealers selling off keys that they know are useless to unsuspecting folks.

(Keep in mind the difference between the fob's transponder and transmitter: transmitter locks/unlocks the doors remotely. The transponder sync's with your ignition and keeps the kill switch from kicking in and disabling your car.)

You revived an eight year old thread - Johnyangel has not been on here, I do not believe, since I joined in 2009.

The best way to get a new key is Rob at Needwings - he is an upstanding guy and VERY well known to us here.

Here is his website, he has a "Contact us" button on there if you cant find them, but just click on "Crossfire Limited" then click on the Key and it will walk you thru the process. His current price is $149 each, best price around these days. Those cheaper solutions in this thread no longer exist.

Performance auto parts & aftermarket auto accessories for your car, specializing SRT4, Crossfire SRT6, SLK32, C32 AMG, VR-4

Others here can correct me if I am wrong, and I wish I WAS wrong, but I don't think I am.

This thread is 8 years old, and jonnyangel has not been here for 2 years and then he was selling parts only.
You can get keys for $150 from NeedsWings and other places as well. The days of cheap keys is long gone.

Thanks for info on NeedsWings web pages, prices more realistic than here in UK. Seems like even they have to pay more for none US keys as ours is listed at $319.95 and yours is $149.95. Still a saving of over $200 is not to be sniffed at. I have a feeling that the OEM key blanks for none USA vehicles come from Mercedes who continue to maintain high European prices. I had to pay £120 (c. $200 then) for a replacement key for my S class Merc 10 years ago.

Wish I'd known that. I just dropped $300 on 2 keys. And get this, they go in the lock, but won't turn. Just wonderful
