Thumbs down Need Good Advice

Hey everyone,

I just picked up my '06 limited coupe today and feel like a kid at Christmas. I have had many nice cars over the years but this was one I kept waiting for. My question is simple, what is the difference between the Mercedes 3.2 and the Chrysler. I had a Mercedes 320 and there was no visible difference when the two were compared side by side in '04 with the hoods up. However the Mercedes gets 53 more horsepower from the same engine. What is the simplest way to get some of that horsepower into the Crossfire? I know that Mercedes has gone to a 3.5 liter since! Is there actually a chip that is easy to install and will make a noticeable difference?

Thanks,
BTE

Thanks in advance for your help...

Cool Re: Need Good Advice

Congrats & Welcome to Forum!!!

It will cost you big $$$$ to get that HP bump you are looking for. This has been discussed at length, do a search it will make for interesting reading. RENNtech, Brabus/Startech are expensive upgrades, best you can do for minimum expense is exhaust , Sprint Booster and a new ECU chip upgrade and maybe gain 10-15 more HP. Purchasing an SRT6 would be more cost effective unless you are a serious wrencher and have a good working knowledge of the MB R170 engine.

Which Mercedes 320 has 53 more HP? The Mercedes 320 and our engines are the same.

You can add underdrive pulleys too.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.

If you are referring to the normally aspirated MB 3.2L V6 - there is no power difference (comparing Crossfire, SLK 320, C 320, etc).
The Supercharged version adds a lot more power, but I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers.

I was just going to ask the same thing. I think he is referring to the ratings of the new 3.5L engine though. 217 + 53 = 270

I was thinking the same thing... if you want more power out of the car I suggest you latch on to Lantana and see what he is doing... or purchase an srt-6...

Other ways that are safe and you do not have to do anything other than empty your wallet is purchase the Kleemann Kompressor... it will cost you as much as the car... though...
