Default Engine cover help

I purchased a MB engine cover for my 3.2 but the front cap for the cover doesn't fit over my oil filter. The main part fits the engine fine but when it's all together it seems like the cover is made for a bigger engine. Anyone have an idea which MB cover I should actually use for my xfire 3.2 engine? It is not an SRT just the regular 3.2.

Thanks,
Stan (blackxfire)

You can try www.oempartsdirect.com and drill down for a SLK 320.
Sounds like you got a cover for a V8.
Good luck.

Of course, they have nothing listed for an SL class 3.2.

Bummer,

The SL is a completely different car than the SLK. Check again for a 2003 or so SLK 320.

Try a search on this forum. I know it has been done and have seen pictures.

Check my gallery and you'll see the cover you want. Its a straight swap for the XF cover. Don't recall the part number but its definitely in a post somewhere on the forum with the prices and contacts to get one.

Is your cover in 2 pieces? Maybe I just need a smaller front piece? Or maybe I need to replace the whole thing?

If you have a V8 airbox, keep it! It's bigger than the V6 and will allow more airflow.

Pat, that's one heck of a nice Mercedes "engine cover" you have there.
Must be a pain to remove when you want to change your air filter though.

It looks like the covers from early to mid 2000's C320. SLK320. and E320 would be a direct fit. Stay away from ML320's as they do not have the dual air filters.

Sorry, not a Brabus cover. Just a large, regular MB cover with a nose piece that doesn't fit my car.

MB parts suppliers selling covers on eBay can't even answer the question about their cover fitting my car. Crazy.

I guess I'll have to try and swap someone for a smaller nose piece.

Thanks everyone.

Mine is a one piece cover thats a direct swap as I said above. The part # is 1120900501. I got it from Crown Mercedes over the phone. Call Joe Wood he was great to deal with. The cost was $254.40 complete FedEx'd to my door. If I didn't like it he even said I could send it back. The phone is 614-799-4670 and it even came with new factory air filters (I replaced mine with the K & N's). I love mine and the reactions when I open the hood at car gatherings is great.

I have had a lot of success buying on Ebay but you have to do your home work and know what you are buying without relying on the seller. you can go to Ebay right now and see covers which are being sold as fitting a C230 which is a four cylinder but the cover is obviously for something else like a V6 but not quite right for our purposes.

We have a C240 which is a 6 cyl and the cover fits I just can't get my wife to give it up. The C230 is a 4 cyl and I doubt that one will fit our cars. Can't understand why she doesn't want my Crossfire cover?

How often does she open the hood? I would go ahead and trade her. The next time she takes it in for service the mercedes mechanics will get a good laugh.

She knows I have my eye on it. My luck they'll say we don't work on Crossfires! As a matter of fact its going in the shop tomorrow. The dreaded BAS/ESP light is not just a problem with our cars. They did something to the ABS system two weeks ago and that didn't fix it so I have a few things from the Mercedes Forum I'm going to suggest to the tech. You would think the code would tell them what is wrong. I'm getting he sinking feeling that Mercedes techs are about as good as Crossfire tech's, good ones are few and far between.

Maybe they were Crossfire techs and one day realized they were Mercedes tech's.
