Default Lifetime Warranty or No Lifetime Powertrain Warranty.

There seems to be differing opinions as to whether new 2006 Crossfires purchased after 7/26/2007 come with the Lifetime Powertain Warranty.

The lifetime warranty was the deciding factor in my decision to buy a new base Crossfire instead of a used limited Crossfire. I purchased my '06 base coupe on 8/24 with assurances from the dealer that it qualified for the warranty. They even wrote it into the bill of sale.

Since then, I have read in other threads that new 2006 Crossfires do not qualify. I am getting nervous and want to know the truth.

In fact, Chryslers own FAQ about the warranty state that new 2006 model year cars are included. See link below:
http://www.chrysler.com/en/lifetime_...ranty/faq.html

If anything, this thread may assist those who are about to make the same decision that I did. New 2006 or used Crossfire. With an unlimited mileage powertrain warranty, the new 2006 Crossfires may be a deal that is too hard to pass up.

I just bought my new 2006 limited just because it included the lifetime warranty. The Warranty paperwork from Chrysler lists 2006 or newer. I also have the 7 year 100K extended coverage. Note though that for the lifetime coverage you MUST take your car back to a dealer for a powertrain inspection every five years. With in 60 days of your purchase date.

Once you read the fine print, the plan is brilliant. After 4 or 5 years, Chryslers liability will probably be smaller than their old warranties.

The items that discontinue the lifetime coverage will, in my estimate, leave only a third of the vehicles eligible after 5 years.

- Its non-transferable ( how many folks get new cars every 2-3 years).
- The 5-year inspection will be missed by many people.

It's not like something one is paying for. It is in addition to all that was already offered. I have a second new Crossfire coming this month and I will take the extended plan anyway. I think you can't have too much coverage with our cars.
I also believe a higher percentage of people buy these with the idea of keeping it for a while. I know I will. In fact, if it just wears out I will keep it as a planter.
BTW...I hope all will notice that all the SRT's are excluded from this coverage as per the answer 7 from the link above.

Thanks,
RP
