Gas Mileage, What do you Get?
I've had my xf 2004 for 4 months now and I really like the gas mileage I'm getting. It's My daily commuter and I'm lovin it. I get on average 32 mpg.
Once I got 33.9, but I didn't use the air. That's alot better then the window sticker(21/25). What's everyone else getting?
Get forum, I just love it.

I just took a 600 mile trip in my new (to me) '04 coupe. I averaged 29.7 mpg over 2 tanks with mostly highway driving with the cruise. I am happily surprised by the mileage I am seeing so far.
I must not be a led foot buddy. I drive 42 miles one every day. About 15 on interstate, 25 on back roads. Not to far above the speed limit.
Good tire pressures help (tpms sees to that). Obviously the prior owner took good care of the car. Got 32,000 miles so I'm coming up for tires pretty soon.
Did I mention NEW Mexico and I'm using 89 octane...

With the AC on (hey, it's Arizona), a lot of city driving, and a lead foot, I still get 23 mpg - amazing to all my friends who know how I drive !!!

Wow, is yours a manual? Mine is an 2004 automatic, and I only get 23 - 24 MPG. I drive 50 miles daily, 80% on Freeway at speed between 60-70 mph.
Gas Mileage...Crossfire...Gas Mileage...Crossfire...
I can't find a connection between these two things...

Would poor gas mileage make you not drive the car???

it really depends on the fuel, here in California the summer gas just sucks, the best mpg would be 18 miles. where as the winter fuel is the best yielding around 25 mpg.
Just got back this afternoon from an 1,165 mile trip to Savannah, GA. The Crossfire was safely parked inside the hotel garage all week so all of the driving was either two and four lane highway or interstate highway with most of it interstate highway at between 70 and 85 miles per hour. I need a fill up in the morning to get a complete number but with the three fill ups that I had on the trip I had 27.748, 27.227 and 26.847 for an average of 27.300 miles per gallon.
In the 8,099 miles that I have been keeping track of my gas consumption I have averaged 23.538 miles per gallon. I've spent just over $950 for an average of $2.76 per gallon since 09/09/06. That cost in no way compares to the fun that I've had in driving those miles.

I broke 30 mpg on the way to Dallas to trade my Crossfire Limited in on my Crossfire SRT6.
On the way back, in my SRT6, I got around 22 mpg. The car only had 18 miles on it before the trip home, so it isn't 'loosened up' yet.
It has 1,500 miles now, and around the city it is between 20-22 mpg also. Haven't really had any longer trips. MOST of those 'city' miles involve traffic, stop lights/signs, and a good bit of 'spirited' driving.

I get around 25 +/- 2 mpg. 2/3 highway 1/3 city and country roads. It is hilly so that cuts down on efficiency, and I often use the air on the highways. Its a stick. I use 93 octane if that makes a difference. All in all a good performance to efficiency ratio.
Some have mentioned that it shouldn't matter what it gets gas wise. Personally, I think it does. This is my daily commuter, putting up 300+ miles a week. (I've never liked the idea of cars being expensive toys, used infrequently). Its a great car and I love it but if it got 10 mpg less than it does now, it wouldn't be worth it.

Also note that the gas milage can vary around the country due to the fuel blends. In Dallas we have MTBE added to our gas which reduces gas milage.
Some argue that it increase polution rather than decreases it like it's supposed to.

I believe 55 mph is the optimal MPG speed.
Most of my drives are highway which = better MPG. Plus it is flat as a board up here in MI. Now when I lived in WV, that was a different story.

I got my best mileage out of my non-SRT (30.4 mpg or so) on the highway with cruise on around 73 mph.
I run ONLY 93 octane though...may be a difference.
