Red face Best way for takeoff?

hey everyone,

not to sound too girly, but I need some advise on how to have a good take off when at a traffic light..cause I've gotten too many people gearing up wanting to race me, but I kind of just let them go, cause what if they smoke me??? that would look stupid.

so any suggestions? i have the "lite" xfire. 4 speed autostick

thanks!

You can hold the brake pedal down and let the RPMs go to as high as it can go until the car starts moving, then let go of the brake pedal when it goes green, it's called brake-tourquing. Keep in mind the TC will tone down wheel spin so that would have to be off as well. I'm sure practicing it will help you find the sweet spot.

I would suggest the latter of your decisions and let them go.

Life is all about looking stupid, and gaining enough experience for the future, so that you don't look a fool twice!

Does it works on an automatic?
Does it do any damage to any parts? such as the transmission?

Brake torquing ONLY works on an automatic. With a manual box you just rev and dump the clutch.

It will get the transmission hot, and heat is the enemy of an auto trans. Repeated use of this technique is not recommended, but every now and again won't (shouldn't) hurt anything.
