You must be following the I35W investigation closely to learn who
liabilities can be hung on.

The way things are going, we'll probably never find out!

I'm in the process of undergoing a significant change in my occupation. I'm in the process of buying a bar/restaurant a few blocks from where I live. If the financials check out, then I should close within a few months. I live in an area where there are going to be 25,000 new rental/condo units available in the next 3-4 years. There are currently very few if any good nightlife spots around here. If it works out I'm going to open an upscale wine bar in the area as well.

Good luck; that's a tough business. Make sure there are no local zoning changes in the works that could screw up your plans. If there aren't any, and if you're the first to open in a hot new residential or mixed-use area, then you should do just fine as the visionary groundbreaker. And keep up the quality - that's what brings back repeat customers...

Sweet, my brother and you would really get along then, he does the exact same thing down in Austin.

The zoning laws are actually getting more lenient in the area. The bar that's for sale currently already has a good following, but there are obvious changes you can make to make it a better bar. I'm not sure what the owner is doing, since I've heard people tell him where the problems are more than once. Luckily for me he hasn't listened. He wants to retire and go traveling for a few years, so he's looking for a quick sale. I have some accountants and lawyers going over there next week to take a look at the books. I have a feeling the records he kept aren't very good. We'll see.
