Smile new guy

Hey guys! I am new here, I have just bought an '04 crossfire, I have looked around the forums for just a little bit, I have seen that some of you have very nice crossfires! I just have a few questions...I am a performance enthousiast and I want to get the most performance out of my new 6 speed crossfire! what are some performance upgrades that I can look into and where do I look for them? oh and one more, where do I get one of those nifty srt-6 superchargers.

Nate, welcome to the forum (again). Please don't feel you're being ignored, but you just asked a couple of the most asked questions by newbies, and a lot of forum members are getting tired of answering the same old questions all the time.
After reading more of the old threads, you'll soon discover that you purchased a high 14 sec. car, and there really isn't a lot of things you can do to make it much faster unless you put it on the bottle (NOS).
Do a search of..."Sprint Booster"..."Cold Air Intakes"..."Custom Exhaust", and this will give you somewhere to start. I personally don't think that you'll actually see much of an improvement in performance, but at least it will sound and feel like you did.
I think most forum members will probably tell you that you should have purchased a SRT6 if you really had a desire for a supercharged car in the first place. But since you purchased an '04 with 40k miles, it would have cost you at least 7 to 10k more than you probably spent.
Unless you were hoping for a 12 or 13 sec. machine, I think you'll find your 6 speed XF still performs pretty good. Besides, the Crossfire does everything else so well, you may find out there is more to performance than just low ET's.
Enjoy your car, and the forum.

Thanks again for the help! The reason I didn't buy an srt-6 is because I told myself I would never buy a slushbox again lol, only a manual transmission! Where can I get my hands on a supercharger from an srt-6? I would be happy with a 12.5 second car, how hard would this be?

Read some of HDDP's threads. It's practically impossible to do with the 6 spd. Very cost prohibitive.
It would be cheaper to buy a complete SRT engine and transmission from a salvage yard like LKQ, and drop it in your '04 than to find a supercharger that would work on your car. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has done it yet that I am aware of.

Cool Re: new guy

Congrats & Welcome to the Forum!!!

The Limited XFire is more of a GT car rather than a high performance car. If speed is what you need then the SRT6 would be the way to go. The Limited is based on the old MB R170 (215 HP) platform, the SRT6 is built on the MB AMG (330 HP Supercharged) platform a totally different engine. There are no "off the shelf no bolt on performance' mods for the Limited other than an ECU chip upgrade and exhaust upgrade. There are companies out there that can do a performance upgrade like Brabus, Startech, RennTech but they are extremely expensive and run about $18K - $26K. At that price point the SRT6 is more cost effective, do a search, there are many threads on performance.

Hello all i'm kind new around here, i had my car about two years now only thing i have done are CAI & Borla ex. and only thing i notice is little better low end and that fine. It not big jump in HP if any, but it does give it a better push at low end. For me this where this motor needs it. what can i say, you just need to drive it and find the sweet spots.

Your '04 may not be an SRT-6 but it's no slouch, either. It has performance numbers roughly equivalent to an RX-8 but with a higher top end. It looks better doing it, too!

You can make it pretty quick with a few upgrades. That car really isn't that slow to begin with though. I think it does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds? That's pretty good. I believe the average 0-60 time for most cars on the road is around 8 to 9 seconds. If you throw a good cat-back exhaust, ECU Tune, Cold-Air Intake, Sprint Booster it will make up noticably. The best thing to do as far as looking for more indepth upgrades is to look a Mercedes Benz Tuners specifically upgrades for the SLK320. There is a pretty good aftermarket for the engine itself, just not much that is Crossfire specific. I think what you will find is the overall performance of the Crossfire is HUGE! It's hard to beat it in the Braking, Cornering and Top End areas. If you are used to going fast in a straight line, you may want to try a few local AutoCross events and see what this car is truly all about.

The SRT-6 has a hand-built AMG engine that is almost entirely different than the standard NA 3.2. The internals are forged, the compression is lower, it's balanced and blue printed and otherwise indestructible. The SuperCharger won't fit a standard car. If you want a 13 second car, do the above mentioned mods and give it a 50-75 Wet Shot of NOS.

Enjoy the ride. Eventhough it isn't a a high-powered car, I think you will find it very rewarding to drive.

thanks for all of the welcomes and info guys!! Yeah the whole reason I bought the car is because of the unique look and the performance it has stock, It almost had the performance of the 2006 mustang GT and it was a lot cheaper than the GT also. I really do like this car so I think I will do the mentioned upgrades and keep her.
