Just the tire rub or more serious...
I have the tire/wheel rubbing problem on the passenger side. From what I read on other threads, this is a common and harmless occurance. However I think my situation is beyond mere tire rub. A loud rubbing and an almost grinding sound comes from the (front passenger) wheel when I have the wheel cut to the right backing out of and pulling into spots ( loud as in people even remotely close hear it and look). This happens well before the wheel is cut all the way. And when making a slow yet sharp turn it feels like the wheel is catching, the turn is jerky -almost like the wheel is skipping. There is no problem from the drivers side, or from making left cut turns/backouts.
I read other posts about this problem but I couldn't find a solution, aside from a possible wheel alignment. The car is an 04' limited with 50K on it. The tires are the same that were on when I purchased the car at 40K, the problem materialized a couple thousand miles ago and has been getting worse. At first I thought it was the tire rub problem so I didn't worry about it but it has gotten to the point where I feel something is wrong.
I am going in for an oil change soon and will have them check it out. I would like to know what the problem is, and what I can expect to pay for the fix if I cannot do it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this.
Thank you.

Before you go for your oil change grab the front passenger wheel and try to shake it to check for looseness or movement. If that does not reveal anything and if you feel like it, maybe jack up that corner of the car and shake it again checking for any looseness. If in doubt about what "looseness" is, do the same thing on the driver side and compare. If you find looseness on the passenger side then check the steering linkage for an easy fix or possible cause of problem. If everything seems normal then maybe it is time to let the dealer check it out while they are doing the oil change.
I had a problem with my front passenger side splash guard falling down. The dealership couldn't get it to stay up with the pins and had to order a new one.
