Photo Shop Request
I was wondering if somebody could take a "drivers side view" of a Crossfire Coupe, and photo shop a 1967 Corvette side pipe on it?
I don't have a photo shop program, and I probably couldn't do it even if I did.
Thanks in advance.

And a slightly improved version with a corrected shadow and an added reflection.

Display_Name, that's a beautiful job of photo shop work, but what I really had in mind was having it attached to the Crossfire, just like it's installed on the Corvette.
Can you remove the Crossfires existing "rocker panel," and replace it with an elongated Vette side pipe?
The way you have it now, is exactly the way most people installed the old "Thrush Side Pipes" from the late sixties. Boy did your photo bring back some memories.
If you check out my gallery, there's a small photo of my AMX at Daytona, and you can see how my "Dealer" installed "Trend Setter" side pipes were mounted, and that's what I was looking for.
Once again, thanks for excellent photo shop work. The talent on this forum is amazing.

Round two. Base image borrowed from "Justins XF Side View" by user Romio

I could make a "sharper" one with a better source image for the sidepipes, but Google Image Search did no better than the ebay auction image you linked to above.
Good night, and thanks for the interesting idea. These are the first two automotive "photochops" I've ever done and they were fun to make.

That's just what the doctor ordered. Thanks so much.
Now, What does everybody think? Go on, be brutal, I can take it.
I was just curious, and I thought it might be an interesting "retro" study,
and I wonder what it would "sound" like?

I think side pipes may be a bit too radical. But they do look good IMO.
Feel free to try them on my car.

Good idea, but for me it just doesn't quite "fit" the car. I liked the rocker cover you tried on there a while ago better. If you did come up with a set of pipes that blended in a little better with the shape of the car, Fritzauf's wheels would be the perfect finishing touch

Resolution is pretty bad in the e-bay pics. But this should give you an idea. I usually only do babes

Thanks "FP" for installing them on my car in the 3/4 view. That looks exactly the way they would protrude out from the rocker.
To me, they look right on Fritz's car. But on mine, I think it makes me look like a "poseur".
Maybe on an SRT (with Fritz's wheels) it would all come together.
As RickZ pointed out, I may just do a little more "experimenting" with my own "Retro Rocker". Besides, it's more in keeping with the "AMX" theme of my car.

This is very cool. I have the exact same car/color,tinted windows.
This looks awesome. To bad it's only photo shop.

Thanks FP. You are a Photoshop Master. I like the idea but this confirms my original opinion.... a little too radical for me.
I can't wait to see what Mike comes up with next.

Pat, I can see where ya might come to that conclusion. LOL. But I have no plans of putting side exhaust on my Crossfire. I just can't leave well enough alone, that's all. As beautiful looking as a perfectly stock Crossfire is, I think it's classic lines offer a world of possibilities for any number of different modifications, whether it's custom paint jobs, aftermarket wheels, or even adding the occasional "scoop" now and then.
Personally, I think a car needs to have a wheelbase of 100" or less to look good with a pair of side exhaust. Of course the Crossfire qualifies, but I also think it needs a V8 to back em up.
That being said, I do know a great bunch of "Craftsmen" that are chomping at the bit to do a "HEMI" Crossfire, and they have the expertise to do the job right too. It isn't going to be cheap, but I have faith the finished product is going to be worth it. Any takers?
I am a great fan of your hood scoop and the pipes makes an interesting addition. Is it possible to reduce the "heigth" of the pipes? They look like they may be a bit big for the car.

I have a set of "Trendsetter" side pipes on my AMX that were a dealer installed "option" for the AMX way back when. They use a more narrow aluminum "heat shield" to cover the "chambered" muffler than the cover the Covette used.
http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1095...14137778VZZhuM
These side pipes are being reproduced, and with only minor modifications would fit right on a Crossfire.
The best way to install them would be to first remove the Crossfire's existing rocker covers. Then mount the chambered mufflers as close to the
body as possible. Next mount the aluminum "heat shield" to hide the muffler and that's it.
Of course the pipes coming from the engine would need to be custom fabricated, but any competent muffler shop should be able to do the job for a nominal fee. I have no idea how they would sound with our V6, but one thing I would do is make sure both sides of the exhaust were tied together by a cross-over pipe. That way the the sound quality would be more balanced, and not like a 1.6 liter 3 cylinder engine on each side of the Crossfire.
The whole arrangement would eliminate the "cats" on the car, so I don't know how street legal they would be, but it would also do away with a lot of back pressure, as well as weight too.
I think it would be a pretty "trick" retro look on a Crossfire.
