Random Ownership Observations
Just some musings....
For a two-seater GT, the Crossfire is well...enormous. This is not a "small" car. I parked next to an MX-5 the other day and I felt like I was towering over that thing. I parked next to a Z4 3.0 Roadster. I felt like I was parked next to a radio control car. I parked next to the "new" New MINI. Again, the Crossfire is enormous. A Z3 passed me one time and I was looking down at it. The car doesn't look that big when standing alone, but next to other sports cars, I realize that the car's styling is...for a lack of a better word...."roided up" so that the 19x9" wheels don't look out of proportion with the rest of the car.
How do you drive this thing? I can't seem to find a reason to rev above 4,500 rpm. It doesn't seem like I get considerably more power than the band between 2000 and 4500 rpm (the dyno sheets confirm this.) When non-SRT Crossfire drivers drag race, do you guys rev all the way to redline? Why not shift at 4500 rpm (peak torque)?
How do SRT6 drivers drag race? There's no clutch to drop. Do they just wait for the Christmas Tree to "go green" and then push the accelerator to the floor, letting the TCS and Auto Transmission Computer handle everything else?
I find that I drive at just under 60mph on the highway so that the spoiler isn't deployed. Then I accelerate past 60mph in order to get the wing up, but only if there are other people around so I can give them a show! Am I sick??
The stock stereo isn't that bad. It has some interesting features. The most interesting one to me is the "Best FM" setting, where you can scroll through a list of the strongest FM stations. The names of the FM stations don't often make sense, but it is more convenient than the standard preset button pushing.
Can tall people fill me in on why you think this car is too small on the inside? I'm 5'11" and with the seats as far back and low and possible, I have 3 inches of headroom and I can barely full depress the clutch with my tippy-toes and my legs fully straight. The passenger side is gigantic. Kind of like when you are in a four-door sedan and you rack the seat as far back as possible. Just obscene amounts of room.
Why do I keep thinking of the game "spy hunter" when I look at the Crossfire? I don't think it looks like the hero car, but for some reason the Crossfire makes me think of the game.
Well, that's it so far...

I too like driving 60 till someone is behind to give them "the Show". It gives me the feeling Im driving a much more expensive car... Ya I think we are all a little sick
Hi,
The Crossfire does look big compared to those cars but beside my bmw 840ci ( i know not a real sports car but sitill a 170 mph vehicle) it look small. Still smaller to me than a xke or mas spyder. The interior room is ample for me at 6 feet and wide enough for by ample tonage. In fact I got the crossfire because I don't sit well in the Honda 2000, Porsche's box, or the 350z. I've got a 2005 srt roadster and I haven't had a single problem so far in 3500 miles. They talk about cup holders but my bmw has worse cup holders that the crossfire and I still love both cars. Having lots of fun with the car.

I love the 840 & 850csi. Ive never owned one, how has it been for dependability?

I replaced a 1999 Miata with my Crossfire and never really thought about how much bigger the Crossfire was until I parked next to a Miata at Buttonwillow. Geez, those Mazdas are itty bitty little things!!!
As for interior room, it isn't just how tall you are but how long your legs & torso are. I'm 6'1" but have a 35" inseam (I know guys my height with 32" inseams and that 3" makes a big difference - back in my bicycle racing days none of these guys could ride my bikes; they'd sit on the saddle and couldn't reach the pedals!!). Headroom is not normally an issue for me in most any car, but leg room can be. I was fine in the Miata, and I'm fine in the Crossfire. Of course, I have a Roadster so headroom is unlimited!!

LOL....all excellent musings. I'll tell you for sure that your everyday "standard" vehicle won't create such depth of thoughts.
Equal to laying the spoiler trick on an unsuspecting public is turning on the LEDs on a Windrestrictor when it is dark and you have traffic behind you at a stoplight. When the "CROSSFIRE" suddenly appears (apparently floating in the dark in whatever your chosen color), you will get some interesting/admiring/puzzled looks from the crowd. I pulled that a Porsche a couple of nights ago and the driver followed me for a couple of blocks in the lane next to and a little behind me, before blowing by at high rate of speed.

Install an "in-line" glass same amp fuse into the wire to make up for the fuse that you disabled.
There is an access port to the interior "behind" the battery that's plugged with a rubber grommet.
I currently have mine temporarily hooked up to a simple hand held on/off button switch, that I use to activate the spoiler only when I want it to go up.
I eventually plan on installing an old fashion floor mounted "dimmer switch" to take the place of my current hand held unit.
Of course the spoiler will stay up until you slow down to the proper speed, but you can then turn it back off, and it won't go back up until you tell it to.
If you forget to put the spoiler up when you're travelling too fast, an audible alarm will sound at around 90mph just to remind ya.
I love it.

My is a 6 speed Limited & I can't imagine having the extra 115 or so horses of the SRT6...my guess is ...(with the automatic)....put your left foot on the brake.....rev it up with your right foot...(rpm your choice ?) ...when the light changes simultaneously let off the brake & floor the accelerator.....& head straight for the tire store!
Just the 6 speed limited will smoke the tires...even with the DSC engaged.
Seems like I read somewhere that the automatics will only rev to 4100 unloaded.....so maybe you can floor the accelerator & not worry about an overrev at the stoplight??????

For the six speed owner: Have you noticed how little rolling resistance there is? I know it's a fairly light car and all, but I get amazing gas mileage because I can see a stop light a 1/2 mile away. I put it in N and coast the rest of the way, barely scrubbing off speed, and I definately don't hold up traffic. By time I start getting close to the stopped cars, light turns green, grab a gear, and go. Most times I don't need to stop completely thus saving gas, saving brakes, and saving wheel wash time.
After a wash and wax:
Not immeadiatley, maybee a day or two later. Do you find yourself getting out of the car, and looking back at it as you walk away. You walk 5ft (or a couple meters,) look back at it and say, "WOW, That's my car, and man it looks good!" Walk a few more ft/m turn and look, few more turn and look, trip over a pot hole, but still stare at it. <~~me this morning after getting to work.

Yes, I do all those things.....exactly.....I also hit 100 almost every day. Today I even decided (after leaving the casino)....that I even like the cupholder....a 16 oz can fits just right & it doesn't really inhibit gear shifts all that much.

AS a manual owner I feel that I am more intelligent than other crossfire owners, and other automatic drivers, however I feel less fortunate than SRT owners. It's a trade off though.
I would say sleeping in the car is obviously not the brightest idea. Being in school and a lacrosse player for the university I have my big duffle bag and sticks to put in the car. I am constantly amazed at how much I can fit into the trunk. Its deceptive. For a car this size you could even call it cavernous. It has such a deep base. And when you make use of the passenger seat, the cargo room is really astounding.

Maybe thats why my son gets such high marks in university.
