Default Will It hurt?

The dealer put in 87 octane about 1/6th of a tank. After I bought it I filled up with 93 octane from shell. Can there 87 hurt anything?

This is an awkward title for a thread.

It won't hurt it at all. You would have to use it for a prolonged period before you would see any issues.

no.. 1/6 87 + 5/6 93 = way above the requirement of 91

In the future don't use the pisswater it will most likely not make an obvious effect instantaniously, but cumilatively there is going to be a lot of potential damage, if you choose to use it..

For one time.....about the worst thing it'll do is cost you a couple of horsepower. The knock sensors will do their thing and cause the ECU to retard your timing a little.

Long term usage can cause many problems, some of the biggest are an engine that will fit in a 5 gallon bucket and destroyed catalysts.

lol wasn't thinking when it came to the title of the thread. I have no intentions of using anything lower than 93 but wasn't sure what potential there 87 could do.

The KY will help to lubricate the repetitive thrusting of the piston in the hole!

I wonder how many of us that bought pre-owned Xfires, especially the ones that were company cars had low octane gas run in our cars for 10k or more miles?! I'll bet ya most of the company cars had this issue, because the drivers mostlikely didn't want to spend extra cash on gas for their company car that they didn't own. Yikes!! I'm a bit worried about possible damage lurking beneath the hood!!

No worry here......Mine only had 900 miles on it, and was leased by an executive VP at Chrysler. He just parked it in the garage and had the techs there take care of it and fill it up , then return it to it's spot!

BTW....Many of the executive level leases get free gas.

Mine also was a corporate lease. It to was a supposed VIP car. Well, it was in good condition, so maybe it was.
