I've never seen 0W-40 in 5-qt jugs. Best source for me is Autozone at $6/qt. The Midas deal sounded good until I read the 6 quart limit.

My dealer changes the oil and filter for $15, but I provide the Mobil1.

The indie who works on my A6 charges $10 for the change, plus I buy the filter from him, but he lets me provide the Mobil1. I'm going to use him for my SRT6 when it next needs an oil change. With the amount of driving I do, I only change oil in the fall when I put the car up for the winter.

I look at it this way....reality!!!!

The crossfire takes a better fleese filter, and more and better synthetic oil to protect the engine longer and last longer

For that, you can change the oil every 7500 - 10,000 instead of every 3K miles.

Oil changes are the cheapest and most important maintenance you do for your car...so in the big picture...why do you care if the oil is $5.00 or $6.00 a quart...an extra $9.00 an oil change once or twice a year...compared to a $40,000 car investment!!....or even a $20,000 car investment.

You are focusing on the wrong place to skimp on.

Pay for a good oil change, which is a great investment, and enjoy the longevity of driving a great car for 200,000 miles!!!

Not a lot to pay for such a prize possession! Enjoy it!

I hope most of the proud owners feel this way.

Mobil 1 European Car Formula 0W-40

Elf Solaris LSX 5W-30 (for MY07+ diesel)

Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 (for MY07+ diesel)

Valvoline SynPower MST 5W-30 (for MY07+ diesel)

These are the only ones that don't have *'s next to them. And I'm assuming the XFire engine is an AMG engine??

But what does "for MY07+ diesel" mean? That it only works in new diesel engines? If that's the case, then there is only one type of oil that will work in our cars! The Mobil 1 0W40!!

There is a VERY good chance I'm not reading this correctly. I would love to buy Valvoline instead, so please clarify!!

Thanks!!

I second that! Oil changes, fluids, and tires. Don't skimp and the car will treat you well for a looong time.

Looks like all the Xfire owners cleaned out Walmart. I went in last night and they were completely out of 0W-40. $5.67 a bottle.
