Crossfire on SpeedTV - "Dream Car Garage"
Some guy named James Duffy won a contest on SpeedTV and gets to do a bunch of fun driving things all over the world. One of the things is lap Nürburgring and drive on the autobahn....they did both in an Xfire - Grey Limited. Showed it going 150 on the autobahn and lapping Nürburgring embarrassingly slow (haha - he passed a bus). They talked up the Crossfire very nicely during the autobahn run - commenting on its stability at speed.
The show was on at 0800hrs EST (I am sure it will be re-run as I think everything on SpeedTV is...at least 5 times
)

Just saw it too. I think that might be the first time anybody has had anything nice to say about the Crossfire.

Jeremy "I'm a *****" Clarkson of the BBC Top Gear show didn't like the Crossfire Coupe much and thought it looked like a dog bent over taking a poo. He is known for speaking his mind and doesn't like America or American cars, except for maybe the Corvette and Ford GT, which he owned. He reluctantly agreed that the Cadillac CTS-V was impressive.
However, when they did a comparison of the Crossfire Roadster and the Nissan 350 and Audi TT convertibles, he picked the Crossfire as his favorite. You can find this comparison on YouTube.

Funny thing is, I remember once where Clarkson said that he really liked the Jaguar E-Type.........Amazing how similar that car is to the Crossfire profile-wise!
Just saw the 2:00 PM (Central) re-play of the show.
It was good indeed to hear Peter Klute speak well about how stable the Crossfire was at 150 mph on the Autobahn, (and good to see the footage of the car at speed).

Passing the bus was soooo slow that his wing wasn't even deployed. What a waste of a once and a lifetime opportunity to lap the 'ring.
The winner of the contest doesn't deserve to win. He drives like a wuss. Good thing he was wearing his racing gloves. I'm sure he would have been slower if he hadn't worn them.
Peter Klut ( the shows host who was riding with the winner ) must have felt worse than I felt when riding shotgun with my grandmother. That must have been excruciating.
However, it was still great to see the Crossfire being used. I wonder how it was decided to use a Crossfire for that segment?
According to the "Dream Car Garage" website:
"The Dream Car Garage production team flew into Frankfurt (Tom was on a separate flight from London) then catching a commuter flight to Nice where they picked up a trio of Chrysler products for the drive down to the coast. The kind folks at Auburn Hills convinced Chrysler France to lend us a Chrysler 300SRT8, a Crossfire and a diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee."
" We caravanned to Monaco along the Cote De Azur in the Crossfire and Optima rented BMW 5 series diesel managing to get lost (we blamed the GPS unit) in the hills surrounding Nice. At one point the roads got so narrow that I had to lean over and fold in the Crossfire's mirrors in order to clear the next alleyway."
"Nürburgring
It was a rainy day at the track but it did not deter the crowds of would be racers and thrill seekers from across Europe. The photos show the wide range of cars (TVR, Aston Martin, Lamborghini) everything from tuner Hondas to the latest exotic. I had a good chat with a trio of British lads who had driven all the way from the UK with a fully customized Nissan Skyline, unfortunately sidelined with turbo troubles."

My cable company doesn't offer Speed TV so I guess I won't be watching the reruns of that show. Thanks for the morning laugh!
