Default Seat Belt

OK I haven't heard this one yet on here. My driver's side seat belt connector is so low between the console and the driver's seat that it makes it extremely difficult to fasten. I thought about working up an extension but that would circumvent the seat belt alarm. Does anyone else have this problem?

its so low that it wears the coating off the console side at the buckle area.

I can see it wearing on that side. I have the car going in for a service (deteriorated headlight and rust on doors) and I'm going to ask about a possible fix for it.

Agree, poor design issue. I have a real hard time buckling up.

Just a suggestion, if you contact your Chrysler dealer they may give you one for free. Being a police officer I wear alot of gear on my belt and my crown vics wont fit around me. We have a few intrepids in the fleet and the same problem, can't reach the connector. We contacted the two companies and they sent 1 per car for free. I cant say your dealers will do the same but just a suggestion. But yes it does override the alarm.

Mac
I'm going to give it a try with the dealer next week. I know it overides the alarm but at the same time I have almost gotten into an accident fiddling with the darn thing while driving. I would rather go without the alarm. Its a terrible design and have to say that it bothers me more than the infamous cup holder.

Mac92, I followed your suggestion and after being quoted ($25) was given a free extension by the dealer. It works great and saves me all that fumbling when I try to buckle up.

On one of the threads it asked "that is your least favorite thing about the Xfire, and mine was the seatbelt issue. It is a real pain the neck. You spend wasted time trying to locate the connector. I can live with the cup holder but the belt issue is ridiculous!

I have a hard time with the buckle also. If you have on a heavy coat it's a real pain in the butt. I would gladly go without the alarm, it's annoying anyway. Any body comes up with a solution, keep us posted.

I would start with your dealer and explain the problem. Its kind of touchy because it overides the alarm. In my mind it kills two brds with one stone!!!!

Could you post a picture of the extension? And maybe provide a part number if you know what it is? Also, did you get one for both sides?

I will try to find the part number for you. I have it only on the driver's side.
