Greetings and Questions
Hello all Y'all from a new owner. Thanks for having such an informative site, I'm finding answers to many of my questions and many I haven't thought of. I find the comments about tires, tire wear, and the comfort zone of interesting. I am sometime and miles away from replacing mine, however the recent post about the Goodyear F1 to be of particular interest. I will be looking for follow-up on the treadwear and comfort zone. I would also like to see the causes of premature tire wear that has been complained about, and if it is the tire or the driving habits? Comments about what the optimum tire pressures are. I know what the book says, and I know the maximum pressure recommended by the tire manufacturer. I found all tires on my '05 Limited Coupe between 50-52psi. I know the variables vs mileage etc but with road temperatures reaching 120-130 degrees in the summer, how dangerous is this? Thanks and see ya on the road.
Was that pressure range of 50-52psi hot or cold? Cold they should be 32psi or so (can't recall the exact numbers off the top of my head) and I seriously doubt they'd gain 20psi under normal driving conditions. You'll end up with premature wear down the center of the tires at those pressures, handling will be compromised, the ride will be harsh but the fuel economy will improve. Check the driver's door jamb for proper cold inflation pressures and set all tires per that label when cold.
Welcome to the forum. When I got my 04 I couldn't understand why the ride was so jaring, I checked the tire pressure and found they were over 42. When I dropped them down to 34 it drove much better.
Welcome to the forum !
I run 35psi cold pressure in my Conti's, very comfortable ride and I'm seein no weird wear patterns.
Just my Dos Centavos !

Welcome to the forum. There's a big difference between maximum pressure and recommended pressure. 50-52 lbs. is way too much. Check the sticker on your drivers door jam for the reccomended pressure. At 50-52 lbs. it would ride so rough you might chip a couple of teeth.
