Default Won't shift out of first gear...

My 04 Automatic won't shift out of first gear. I have to use the "Tool" to get it out of Park and the display to tell what gear it is in, is blacked out. Has anyone have any ideas as to the problem? I need your help!!!

Yep, use the search button.
It was discussed just last week.

However, here's one search for you...

Yes, on his, everything died. Mine is just the shifter. It has a check engine light on, but I live 10 miles from the closest Autozone to get it checked. There was a post that mentioned a connector on the transmission that wasn't connected correctly. I emailed them and haven't heard anything as of yet.

Still looking, Allan

Well, I Limped my Crossfire to the Dealership on Thursday. After 8 hours they determined that the "Shifter Mechanism" in the "Shifter Lever Assembly" was shot. It will take until Monday or Tuesday to get another one, at an estimate of $825.00.

It is pictured on page 2237 (21-339)of the Service Manual. I don't know how to add that page this post, sorry.

Any chance of something being spilled into the shifter. Seems like I'm doing about one a week due to the "Pepsi" syndrome.

No, I removed the console myself and checked for any spills. It looked perfect under there. I checked the wiring connections before taking it to the dealer. Everything looked ok.

I picked up my Crossfire from the dealer today. It runs and shifts like a new one. After $825.38 it had better. It was the shifter and that's what they replaced. If I had known about transferring the 7 year/70,000 mile warranty when I bought it, it might have covered it.

Just glad to have it back!!!
