First long road trip
First long road trip
I just got back from my first "long" XF road trip. A few things that I have noticed:
1) Got pretty good gas mileage overall (28, going 72-79 on the interstate).
2) The car seems to have a LOT more power at lower altitudes. My house = 6,000ft, Topeka, KS = 900ft.
3) My butt needs to get used to the seat for longer trips. It feels like there is a bar on the right side of the driver's seat that seems to "dig in" and trigger a muscle cramp. Anyone else experience this?

2.) The denser the air the more gas you can pack in the cylinders (hence the idea of a CAI) so that makes sense. Wonder what it would be like in Death Valley?!
3.) This always depends on butt size ! Seriously though, I've never noticed any cramping issue but since I have no as_ (like the ole George Carlin line: I have to pack my wallet full of singles just so it looks like I have one.) I can't really say for sure.

I probably just need more long distance hauls in my XF (which I have absolutely no problem doing so).
Re: First long road trip
Mine must fit me like a glove too, couple trips to arizona and new mexico, and never stiff or sore. Love the heated seats too. The only thing I will do is take my wallet out and put it right there by the e-brake handle, just dont want to put a big dent in the seat from the wallet full of crap (no money) lol. I will agree with a HUGE difference in elevation. Coming from inbetween 6500 and 9500 based whether I am at home or work, to say the phoenix area, it felt like I was driving a rocket sled in comparison. And a MAJOR gas improvement. Went from say 28 to about 38 MPG. I envy those of you that live at low elevations, this car really comes alive, I just wonder what it would have been like if I would have had my sprint booster then?
