Default Fender mounted spoiler.

Anyone else given any thought to one? I've always wanted a fixed rear spoiler and im not a big fan of the srt-6 spoiler or the look of just a universal aftermarket carbon fiber or aluminum spoiler. They are great for race cars but everytime I see one on a road car I usually think of a 94 4 door cavalier i saw one time and I wouldn't my own car reminding me of that. I was thinking of just disabling our pop up wing and putting on something like that on a Z4.

Now, I realize that it's mounted on the boot lid but I dont think that would quite work on our cars.

I've been a ardent spoiler fan for over 40 years. (I think it started with the 1962 Ferrari GTO).
As soon as the Mark Donohue Javelin came out, I ordered its spoiler for my AMX (they only came with a dealer installed "wing" style spoiler) https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle...php?photo=2606.
I've thought about a different type of rear spoiler for the Crossfire too. Not because I don't like the SRT's, or the one that came on my 04, just because I think something custom wouldn't look bad as long as it wasn't too radical. Maybe something like the larger spoiler that was available on the 1970 Z-28. Then again, maybe not. I just haven't been able to come up with a way to do it yet. The shape of the coupes rear end doesn't lend itself to easy modifications. Maybe it's better if it's left alone.
I do like those BMW Z4 coupes though. They're kind of "funky" lookin in a "cool" way.

They make closing the trunk a lot easier!!!
Oooh... you could get one of those after-market aluminum ones that all the front wheel drive cars use - the ones which you can adjust the angle for maximum downforce, get the bean-can exhaust too - rockin' dude!!!

Does anyone know of someone who custom makes spoilers to your specs? Like the ST spoiler.

Spensley, was that really necessary? I mean I have a sence of humor as good as the next guy, but Bryce specifically said that he didn't want a "tuners" style spoiler. He said something like what is available on the BMW Z4 coupe, he even posted a thread with a photo.
Why is it everytime somebody wants to try something different with their "own" Crossfire, another forum member feels it's their sworn duty to poke fun at it, and shoot em down. A simple "It's not for me", would surfice.
I know some people on this forum feel that the Crossfire is a rolling work of "Art" and shouldn't be tampered with in any way, shape, or form. And that's OK, it's their opinion and they're entitled to it. But some others here like to think outside of the box, and to them the Crossfire is a blank canvas (albeit a very nice blank canvas) from which ideas and modifications can flourish.
If I would have announced right from the beginning in the spring of 2005 that I had plans of installing a hood scoop on my Crossfire from a 1970 car, Most if not everybody on the forum would have probably branded me a heretic. So I just went ahead and did it with the hope it would turn out looking good, atleast to me. As it turned out, it came out even better than I had hoped and I've never regreted making the modification. Sure, some people didn't like it (and probably still don't) others said it was OK, and others have told me they love it.
My point is have an open mind when ever somebody wants to try something different. You never know, you may be surprised by the end result. I've heard from lots of forum members who told me they really weren't that wild about my hood until they got a chance to see it at a couple of GTG's I've attended, and after seeing it in person they really liked it.
I'll get off my soap box now.

FP, the place that did my hood built a custom fabricated spoiler for a good friends 69 Cuda fastback. It looked great. I'm sure they could design one for the Crossfire.

I'm hoping to find a local (US) place that can manufacture the ST or like spoiler (see Mayaman's)for much less than the cost from Europe.

I'm not a big fan of the ST spoiler either, the spoiler itself looks fine it's just the flat panel under it, where the c-r-o-s-s-f-i-r-e is, or in my case was, makes it look kind of odd. I've been asking around and it seems there are a couple of people in my area talented enough to tackle such an undertaking. One of them is apparently good with photoshop too so I'm going to try to get in touch with him and see if he can come up with something. The only problem I'm concerned about is the fact that the new spoiler will almost certainly serve no real function and the factory will be disabled, of course if it's fender mounted the hatch wont open either but I rarely use it anyway. I'm sure this has been covered before but should I see any real problem seeing as the car rarely breaks 100mph? I'm easy to find(so no speeding) and not into racing the thing.

Oh, and thanks +fireamx, you got to it before I did. Doesn't bother me any, the dude made himself sound like a tard since I had bashed those things myself in the original post.

Bryce, anytime you erect a wing, spoiler, airfoil what ever, you will be breaking up the flow of air that is moving over the roof and hatch that create lift. That's the purpose of our respective wings, not so much for down force, but to help stop lift.
Assuming you don't have a wind tunnel to test your personal designed spoiler in, it's anybody's guess how well it's going to work.
But as long as your not a racer on a high speed track, it probably won't make any difference.

I can easily produce anything like spoilers, kits and stuff out of fiberglass
We design and produce our own molds.
But heres the story tried doin stuff once long story so for now will hold back and sit it out. if i have time i will design some stuff for my xfire and will show pics. Low profile stuff. Im thinking doin fiberglass insert for center dash to install 7 '' Nav screen with the same rounded layout as gauges and would go above vents.

Thanks for having the cohones to post that, I just sighed and shook my head when I read that response this AM. For some, it just comes naturally, I suppose.

And I think the CrossAMX scoop looks cool.

See ya'

I also thought about a different spoiler but, I thought about the impact it would make on downforce, wind tunnel, etc. Would it help or make the car sway at higher speeds. Granted, i think I have been over 100 maybe twice. Never got over 110. If you come up with something can you post a pic? It would be very interesting and maybe we can do some business.

I'd be interested if you took on the spoiler project.

Look at my original startech thread for my clay prototype FP, you can use it if you want. Its kinda like the ST spoiler but more of a duck tail.
