New Crossfire/tire pressure light
New Crossfire/tire pressure light
I can't believe it myself; bought a 2005 Limited CC with 40,000 miles, aero blue.......gorgeous. I've had it two weeks and have yet to go over 60 mph (I just don't drive and walk to work). Anyway, after about three days tire pressure light comes on, check air pressure and 3 lbs down in back right tire. Okay fine. Now after not driving it for three or four days, tire pressure light back on again. This is going to drive me crazy because I just freak out when a light of any kind comes on (My VW Beetle's check engine light stayed on for two years). I can't stand this. I want to enjoy my car......and keep it for a long time. Could this be a slow leak, am I going to be a frequent vistor to the dealership here? Geez, forget doctors, lawyers, etc., marry a good mechanic!!!! On another note, I really do love the look of this car. Considered Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, but kept going back to this. Traded in the 2000 VW Beetle with 70,000 miles and in tip top shape (save that sticking engine light) and bought the car for $10,000. Oh, one more thing, folks, I bought a 3 year 75,000 mile extended warranty (would probably take me ten years to get to 75,000!!!, was I wrong (doesn't matter now)....$1700.00. Answers please. And comments on the 2005 CC Limited.......Thanks ever so much......Dixie Kitten

Re: New Crossfire/tire pressure light
Welcome to the fold!
It might be worth one trip to the dealer/shop to have the settings on the TPMS system checked out. I just replaced all my wheels and tires and kept the TPMS system. The light would go on-then off-then on again! It turned out that the tire pressure set by my dealer was too close to the running temp. It apparently is adjustable-just not by the user.
As I recall the tires are supposed to run @ 33 front and 36 rear, and the sensors are to be set for 10% lower than that. Individually. So that would be 29.7 front and 32.4 rear.
If you do a search on the tires forum and use TPMS as the search word, I'm sure you'll find a wealth of info!
Best of luck!

Re: New Crossfire/tire pressure light
I bought my '05 XFire in February and had the "low tire pressure" light come on several times. The car had 6K on the clock when I purchased it. The weather was cold then and the tire pressures were off when I bought the car. I would return the tires to the proper pressures and the light would go out, but light up again a week later. It turns out there was a screw in my LR tire. The dealer replaced the tire for free. Since that time I've had no problems at all with my XFire.

Re: New Crossfire/tire pressure light
Hello, I had the same problem last year. My passenger rear tire kept going low and setting off the light. I was at Sam's Club one day and noticed they had a poster at their counter on Tire Pressure Sensors and talked to the kid about them. He said, since I am a member, he would check the tire for no charge, even though I did not buy the tires there. They found a small nail down in the tread that I could not see and the light has not come on since. I was a little leary about taking my car anywhere, but since I seen the poster and taked to him, I was confident they could take care of it.
Good Luck, Allan

Re: New Crossfire/tire pressure light
My left rear kept going down and TPMS would come on about 2 or 3 days after airing the tire back up. Took it to PepBoys for the 1st and last time ever and they couldn't find anything. I took it back home and fine tooth combed it and found a small chip out of the tread. I put a little spit on it and sure enough there was bubbles. Had it plugged, been fine ever since.
STAY AWAY FROM PEPBOYS !!!
(especially Knoxville, TN)
They scratched my wheel !!!
Took forever to get them to own up to it.
Places like that will hire anyone and send them to a afternoon or weekend class on how to change a tire and call them a "certified tech".

Thanks for straightening me out.
My wife usually takes care of that.

Re: New Crossfire/tire pressure light
I had this issue on my first Crossfire. It was a 06 limited. The right rear rim was cracked and had a very slow leak. I would guess that is it. I did not read all the previous comments but I would have them check that.
My SRT the recommended tire pressure it 36 all the way around
On the limited it was 32 front, and 33 rear.
I think they did a water test on the rim to check for a crack. I had the tire and road hazard protection. Definitely a good investment if your local roads are crappy.

Sorry again.
