Man killed by his OWN Crossfire... a bizarre tragedy.
Thanks for the heads up on this Gary, I have WTOP's web site on my computer at work all day. One of the few websites we can access and I didn't see it. No I didn't know this guy, may have seen the car on the street but I've never seen him at any of our stuff around here. Tragic accident.
Chuck65 good advise. This could have happened to any of us.

Wow. This actually happened to me too, when I first bought the car. fortunatly no one was standing near the car in my driveway and no damage was done to any one elses vehicles.
what happended to me was I pulled into the driveway, got out and went into my house. 5 minutes later I hear the cars alarm going mad! I walk outside to see my car had rolled away across the street into my nieghbors yard. Scared the pist out of me and my ego was a bit bruised as I know the neighbor will be telling this storry to all our friends.
basically I left the car in nuetral, (6 speed car) and pulled the handbrake. all is good, but the e-brake shoes don't seem to bind as well when rolling backwards, as they do compared to rolling forwards. I now yank extra hard on shallow sloped parking lots.
Lesson learned!

Yes how sad , i know for me i have too have my head together before i take a ride in the crossfire . I am always thinking a head of the car , careful out there .
I'll tell you how easy it is to do. Had a GT Cruiser before the Crossfire. One morning I pull in the driveway (on a hill) after dropping my son at school. I had something else on my mind and apparently didn't apply the e-brake. While I was in the house taking a shower my car decided to give me a wake up call and rolled down the hill. Didn't hit anything thankfully but it was a big "maybe you should start paying attention" to me from my car. What's sad is to read some of the responses on the WTOP web site. What is up with people these days? Man we have lost our kindness and respect for people. I know its just the internet Pat.

It happened to me too. It was early morning and I wasn't fully awake. I backed my S 10 pickup out of the garage and put it into drive when I realized I hadn't closed the garage door yet. I jumped out of the truck with it in drive and it started forward. I almost tried jumping back into it but I would have been pinned when the drivers door hit the garage door frame.
Instead, I grabbed the bed rail and tried holding it back as it went cockeyed back into the garage and took out a whole f-bombing wall.
This is NOT a good way to start the day.

I guess those of us crossfire owners with manual transmissions have less to worry about. However if you don't pull up the e-brake far enough when facing up a hill, the car will start to roll.
Washington Post; Kaye grew up in New Jersey, going on to the University of Delaware, where he met Michael Lacey, who would become his partner.
"not that there's anything wrong with that"
I'm sorry, I really am, but I could not help it.

This is really sad. So to everyone driving AT cars, don't forget to put it in Park and pull the handbrake just to be safe. May he rest in peace.
