Does your Shift Knob gets hot?

Does your Shift **** gets hot?
Is this normal or just me?
Whenever I drive aggressively with high RPM, the shift **** get very warm immediately, and the stick at the bottom of the shift **** gets hot to touch.
I've an automatic. It would normally stay cold if I drive smoothly.
