Default Crossfire lighting

I see numerous comments on the apparent poor headlights for our cars. It seems that some think the original equipment is insufficient and some think they should have HID lighting just because it is available. I must admit I was skeptical because of the obvious size until I used my original equipment lights on our recent Seattle trip.

I have never had such good lighting on a vehicle! They are brighter, cover a longer, broader pattern than the older halogen lights and yet not once was I asked to dim them! I'll keep what I have with no complaint.

C'mon guys, fess up. You forgot to take off your sunglasses--right?

Jim

PS For those with already oxidized headamp covers I would suggest one of the Mothers polishing *****. I have chucked mine in a 3/8" drill, I then apply some Meguirs plastic polish to it. Maybe 2 minutes polishing time and it should be shiny and new looking again. My previously very dull 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee bug deflector now looks at least as good as the day I bought it in 1996.

The headlights aren't bad for h7 bulbs because they are h7's. I dont know if you've driven a car with HID's, but they are much better at night. There are roads with no street lights around here that I have trouble with at night, its no problem in a car with HIDs. The fact that most cars in the 30k price range have them now, and considering that our car is somwhat of a premium car, it should have them stock. lighting makes a huge difference in the drivability as well as the apperance, the LEDs in my license plate lights make the car much more expensive and they were 3 bucks a piece. I think I'm going to do an HID kit in the near future.

If you are asking me that question I'll say that I have never used HID's and do not see the need with the original equipment lighting on the Crossfire. I did not mean to leave that open for misinterpretation. Sorry.

I felt the same way.. I'm also 19 so age may be a big thing, I still have all of my vision.. until I put in my HID's.. WOW they are FANTASTIC.

I agree, I never had a problem with the stock bulbs, but then I put in the HID's and fell that much more in love.. was like having a whole new car

I have Bi-Xenons on my Audi A6 and would happily have paid big bucks for the option on my Crossfire. I can burn weeds at 300 yards with the Xenons. They are outstanding for high speed night driving. The halogen are fine for speed limits, but when you're clipping along at 90-100 the extra range and reflection of the Xenon's cannot be beat.

HIDs are the only upgrade that I have done to mine...and from now on anything I own will have them. I'm not eighteen any more ( and neither is my night vision) and these things make me very comfortable with my night vision again. The best improvement you can make in my book.

These are not HID's and are only worth 99 cents.

I think he was trying to say "look" more expensive, which, it does. I'm going to have to put some LEDs in mine... make the car look much more new and exquisite.

Really though I get the irony now, that adding a NAWS sticker wont actually add 10 hp. I mean more upscale cars use ricey LEDs too, but apparently visibility is tacky. Also the fact that blue LED light has a more modern feel than yellow bulbs that Edison perfected makes them a little more desirable to me being that my car was made in 2007 and didnt come with them. Were not talking underglow here boss.

I actually find those HID lights very annoying while going down the road on other cars. They always seem like they are on the high beam setting and makes it very hard for me to see past them. I honestly wished they were outlawed.

With that said, I have no issue with the current headlamps on the XF. They seem to provide plenty of light for me.

If you don't mind me asking, what bulbs did you use for the licence plate lamps and where mite I get some? I think they look great.

Thanks, I ordered them from http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR. The ones I have are 36mm, but they should be 39mm so go for the 3910-cw6 's. I suggest keeping a couple spares, because they seem like they burn out relatively quickly, but it could just be that mine are a little too small and are bouncing around.

here's the 36mm in the socket. the extra 3mm should make it fit perfectly. I am going to order the 39's this week. haha never though about actually measuring the bulb rather than just asking what will fit.
