SRT6 Storing
Hello everyone.
Will be storing my 2005 SRT6 coupe this sunday for the winter and i will be leaving for Afghanistan in March so my baby will be stored for about 8 or 9 months before i get to ride it next summer before leaving back to Afghanistan again to finish my tour. So what i need right now is advice on what to do and what not to do for storing the car for such a period of time. I'm pretty sure lots have stored theirs and your tips and tricks would be much appreciated. Gas tank full or empty, tire pressure, wiper blades ETC.... THANX!!!!
Forgot to mention, car will be stored in dry heated garage.

STICK SOMETHING IN YOUR EXHAUST PIPE! like a sock or something. and i could be wrong but ive been told that taking the tires of the car and keeping that car on jack stands is better for the tires because they can get flat spots. dont take my word on that though
First of all, thank you for your service and please have a safe tour. Since I don't have to store cars for long periods about all I can suggest is to have the gas tank full to prevent condensation in the tank.

1. Full tank w/ Stabil
2. Car on jacks
3. Every thing clean and polished
4. Trickle charger on battery. (or remove from car & charge)
5. Car cover
6. Change oil when ready to drive (next summer)
That should do it for this duration. Fogging oil in the cylinders would be nice but not really required for this time length.

It puts a thin layer of oil on everything and prevents rust. It is great for coating the cylinders walls and protecting them for long term storage. Prevents rust and keeps the rings from sticking. Really is great stuff.
Here is an example (not the one I use but a good example): http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/fog.aspx
Most boating stores carry fogging oil.
I would change the oil and filter before storage, not after. I do this every winter with my Crossfire. Make sure the tires are aired up to their maximum and put a couple sheets of cardboard under each tire to protect them from the concrete.
I only store mine from Nov-May and I run it every few weeks. There are some trickle devices that will keep your battery charged -- you may want to google some of those.
Not sure where you are storing it, but you may want to put mothballs or a stickyboard or two inside the car, engine comparment, and trunk to deter mice. I have not had a problem in my own garage, but I am storing offsite this winter and will do the same. I had mice build a home in my motorcycle tailpipe one winter when I lived in NY.
Have a safe deployment and return in one piece.

Only reason the change the oil when taking it out of storage id to remove any water that WILL built up over the winter.
Thats why you change it either by miles or months in the crankcase. - even "new" oil should be changed after sitting in an engine for 6 months
