Default Pics of the new Engine Bay

What do you all think, keep in mind that this utilizes the stock forced or ram air through the filters and let me tell you I like the sound and the improved preformance.

Very nice I wanted to do the same but couldn't find tubes that fit, What tubes did you use in front on the filters?

Wow, very nice! Looks like silicone hoses from the front? That's an interesting and unique set up.

A much better setup, and it looks really nice.

Is there a noticable difference now that you have some "cold" air to play with? Or is it just suction sound?

Very nice setup. Where did you find the tubes to go out through the front?

Which filters did you use for this?

I used my stock tubes but had to cut them down and use a rubber hose coupling, the tubes from the air box to the filter. I bought from a local parts store they are 6'' tubes with a 22 degree bend and the filters are spectre. They only had the white filter but spectre does make a red one so in the future they will be red to match the car.

And yes the sound is much deeper and it seems like the acceleration is alot easier. Overall for the $90 I spent I am very pleased with the results

It looks s very nice under the hood. But I am not sure how you getting the cold air thru the filter? I see the hoses that are forward of the filter, but the filter element is still exposed to hot eng compartment. Please explain.

Thanks, James

You are correct there is some hot air comming from the engine bay, but also it is still sucking cooler air through the grill, so it i would say is mixed, most of the suction is through the forward hoses, I have noticed that the airbox tubes are extremely cooler. not as hot to the touch after driving around for awhile. Im not implying this is a cold air in take but I have noticed an improvement, maybe its just me. But I like it !

So the coupler fits snug in front of the filter? I'll have to try it. I have the same set up but have always called it a Hot Air Intake. Maybe this will cool it down a bit.

Nice airbox btw....

gotta give you a warning, i assume you used the ebay style filters with the inverted cone on the face, they have a quarter sized peice of metal in the center of them right? if so they are prone to being sucked into the airstream. some srt-4 owners have whiped out turbos due to this

the hot air is going to get you on this setup, your trading slightly less restriction for undoubtably hotter air.

if you want to keep this style of intake id recommend you to switch to a k&n or other quality brand filter

please dont take offense to my comments but i guess id rather you be slight ticked about it then having to replace a motor due to the metal disc getting caught in a valve

Good to know. I traded up to K&Ns before installing my cone filters.

Thanks...

Not from ebay from spectre I could not find where the quarter size piece o metal is the only thing i see from either side of the filter is the filter itself no type of metal that can be sucked in, they look just like the K&Ns inside both directions, But thanks for the warning, why would I or anyone else get mad. I would not post If I didnt expect some critisisim, hope I spelled that right, anyway thanks for the thought.
